Saffirio’s Gold Wine Experience Lets You Embrace the Truest Essence of Barolo

In Castelletto di Monforte d’Alba, the home of Barolo, surrounded by ancient hills and bathed in profound silence, the Saffirio winery, part of the Renzo Rosso-founded wine holding company Brave Wine, is transforming hospitality into a natural and conscious gesture.

Here, wine tourism is much more than merely a here today, gone tomorrow trend; it is the tangible extension of an idea of wine that focuses on people, the landscape, and time: a time to listen, understand, and savour.

With this spirit, the winery has built up a hospitality project over the years capable of telling the story of its wines and the philosophy behind them while offering visitors the chance to experience it as a place characterised by relationships, discovery, and shared memory.

It has been a project born out of the desire to embrace those seeking authenticity and a sense of depth, offering proposals that combine storytelling, tasting and engagement with the land.

With this in mind, Saffirio has created the Gold Wine Experience, the most intense expression of its approach. It is not just a simple vertical tasting but a journey through five vintages of Barolo from between 1978 and 2020, from the estate’s historical reserve. This will be a journey that speaks of soils, seasons, and evolution and fills every glass with the value of time and the consistency of a production vision handed down from generation to generation for over two centuries.

Before tasting the wines, visitors are taken to see the vineyards and the cellar, giving them an opportunity to fully understand the silently performed work that goes into every vintage. This work is deeply rooted in respect for nature and fuelled by attention, listening, and precision.

Then there is the Barolo Experience, which expands the story, embracing the history of the cellar: from the first steps taken by the Saffirio family on the hills of Monforte d’Alba to the discovery of the single vineyards to the tasting of four different interpretations of Barolo made today, with the single-grape wines Castelletto Persiera, Ravera, and Perno and the Barolo Riserva Millenovecento48.

It will be an opportunity to enter the beating heart of the winery, touch the raw materials used to create the wines and gain an in-depth understanding of what it means to be the keepers of an iconic appellation whose focus is firmly on the future. A delicious selection of charcuterie and cheeses will make this experience even more enchanting.

Last but not least, from April to October, the Picnic in the vineyards offers the chance to spend some time in nature and appreciate the silence and beauty all around. When the guided tour of the cellar and tasting of four different labels is over, guests are given a lunch box for two, along with a bottle of Barbera d’Alba Superiore and a corkscrew featuring the Saffirio logo. They are then free to go out and choose a perfect spot among the vineyards to complete their experience under the Langa sky.

Brave Wine’s investments in the winery have led to the opening of a new tasting room with an adjoining kitchen. This modern and functional space has been designed to host traditional tastings as well as private or corporate events. Thanks to collaborations with selected caterers, it provides a sophisticated setting that enhances the estate’s ambience, creating a place with discreet and personalised hospitality.
