Rolls-Royce Motor Cars debuts the first touring exhibition of the brand in Asia at the Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay.
The event comprises a series of private sessions for invited guests as well as a session for public on 23 April. The tour will stop in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Seoul. The large open-plan space is home to the first, interactive Rolls-Royce exhibition in Asia that celebrates the brand’s contemporary, super-luxury status. It brings together the brand’s unique history, which spans more than a century, and modern-day developments. The exhibition showcases, amongst others, a selection of the brand’s latest cars, bespoke samples and lifestyle accessories.
Occupying a special place, both on the vehicles themselves and in the exhibition, is the Spirit of Ecstasy. This automotive icon graces the bonnet of every single Rolls-Royce ever made.
Ghost V-Specification is presented in Singapore for the first time. The limited series of Ghost and Ghost Extended Wheelbase motor cars celebrate one of Ghost’s defining characteristics; the exquisite, effortless 6.6 litre Rolls-Royce V12 engine. Since its introduction in 2009 an extraordinary marriage of assured presence and remarkable driving dynamics has endeared Ghost to a new generation of highly discerning businessmen and women around the world. The hallmark V12 engine delivers acceleration of 0 to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds with 80% of power available from idle. This unique powertrain is celebrated with a 30bhp power increase on all Ghost VSpecification motor cars, making them the most powerful four-door saloons in the Rolls-Royce range (593hp, 780Nm of torque).
V-Specification motif coachlines finish the exterior paint-scheme whilst customers can either choose from five specially selected exterior colours, or from Rolls-Royce’s 44,000 hue palette. Optional visible chrome exhausts and 21” part-polished wheels add further expression to the car’s dynamic promise. The V-Specification motif is echoed around the car’s handcrafted interior through engraving to the treadplates, embroidery to the rear armrest and hand-applied steel inlays to the front multimedia screen lid. The interior is completed with an exclusively designed clock with a black crown surrounding the face.
The most contemporary model yet from Rolls-Royce, the two door fastback is the most powerful motor car the company has ever built. Its V12 engine harnesses 624hp and 800Nm of torque to deliver acceleration of 0-100km/h in only 4.6 seconds. Satellite Aided Transmission (SAT) intuitively changes gears for the driver when approaching roundabouts or exit ramps. True four-seater capability, bespoke craftsmanship and the usual hallmarks of Rolls-Royce luxury such as a bespoke, 1,300 watt, 18 speaker audio system mark Wraith out as the Ultimate Gran Turismo.
Phantom Series II
Phantom, Rolls-Royce’s flagship model, retains the pinnacle position in super-luxury motor cars. At the model’s core is a spaceframe aluminium chassis which serves as the foundation for the car’s extraordinary driving prowess. Strong, lightweight and as rigid as a Formula 1 car, the spaceframe is entirely hand-welded, then finished as if it were a precision instrument. Every morning, skilled welders perform a 300mm test to check for atmospheric effects on the material with which they will work. More than 200 box sections of cast aluminium extrusion are then formed to create the frame, which is checked for accuracy to within a millimetre by laser. Finally, the largest computer-guided machining platform in the auto industry sets to work on the complete structure, milling critical points with pinpoint precision. A unit has been flown out to Singapore specially for the event.
Phantom Series II is a family of ultra-luxurious cars that have been thoughtfully updated with the introduction of cutting-edge technologies and enhancements such as LED headlamps, 8-speed gearbox, updated satellite navigation system camera systems. A naturally aspirated V12 engine produces 453hp and 720Nm of torque to propel the car from 0-100km//h in a mere 5.9 seconds.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars recently revealed that its Bespoke business has become more successful than ever with content on its range of super-luxury cars reaching new heights in 2013. Almost 95% of Rolls-Royce cars purchased last year were personalised by their owners, reinforcing the claim that Rolls-Royce is the brand of connoisseurs who demand the best in individualisation.
Customers for Phantom and Ghost commissioned higher levels of Bespoke content on their cars last year. In its first year of availability, 90% of Wraiths were purchased with Bespoke options specified by their owners. Artisans from the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood in the United Kingdom have flown to Singapore to talk to the public and demonstrate their expertise in paint, wood and leather. Painter Mark Court Mark estimates that he has hand painted coachlines for well over 2,000 Rolls-Royce cars. He is featured in the short movie, “The Prince and the Coachline Painter” as an example of the uncompromising approaching to hand craftsmanship and excellence at the company, where he flew over 5,000km with his brushes to Dubai to handpaint his coachlines on a prince’s car.
