SOOM Brings the Heart of Korean BBQ Culture to London’s Covent Garden

Korean Cuisine Continues to Rise – SOOM Brings BBQ Culture to Covent Garden

This November, get ready to experience a fresh and exciting Korean BBQ right in the heart of London at 99 St Martin’s Lane. SOOM, the latest venture from the talented team behind Canary Wharf’s beloved 3KOBROS, is set to become the new go-to spot for Korean food lovers.

Korean cuisine is making waves across London, loved for its punchy flavours, communal dining vibe, and the perfect blend of tradition with a modern twist. SOOM captures all this energy, elevating Korean BBQ into an experience that’s both lively and serene.

A selection of meats ready for grilling

At SOOM, it’s all about coming together around the grill. Imagine gathering with friends to cook and share premium meats and seasonal veggies, enjoying each other’s company while savouring the rich heritage of Korean BBQ. The menu doesn’t stop there — expect a variety of Korean favourites, both classic and contemporary, with plenty of choices for vegetarians, vegans, and those seeking halal options.

A dessert that resembles a caramelised apple on a cream

To round off your meal, the dessert menu offers a charming nod to Korean tradition alongside some modern delights. And the drinks? Think soju, inventive Korean-inspired cocktails, soothing teas, and refreshing non-alcoholic options — something for everyone.

The tables next to the spectacular traditional wall art

The restaurant’s design is something special. Designed as a peaceful escape from the city buzz, SOOM blends traditional Korean aesthetics with a sleek, contemporary style. Each stone table hides a discreet electric BBQ grill, making cook-and-dine moments effortless and elegant.

Right at the heart of the dining area, you’ll find the SOOM feature table — a circular, twelve-seat centrepiece made for bringing people together. Look up and you’ll see a stunning ceiling sculpture inspired by Hanok architecture, with layered wood and soft curves that evoke warmth and natural light.

Nearby, the ground-floor bar shines with handcrafted touches like Goryeo celadon vases, a hanji-wrapped bar counter glowing with soft light, and a breathtaking mother-of-pearl artwork that depicts a tranquil Korean landscape.

Toward the back of the main dining space, you’ll spot the symbolic Jing — a two-meter-wide circular gong used traditionally in Korean rituals. It’s struck to mark joyous moments and shared celebrations. Next to it, a subtle ‘Circle of Light’ adds to the quiet rhythm and stillness of the space.

SOOM also offers intimate dining nooks framed by flowing arches, and a private dining room designed for warmth and discretion. This cosy, U-shaped space is surrounded by ink-wash landscape panels, setting a serene mood, complemented by a traditional mother-of-pearl folding screen in the basement dining hall.

Before the official opening on 10th November 2025, SOOM will host a soft launch from 25th October to 8th November, with 25% off food for early visitors — an ideal chance to savour the new BBQ culture in Covent Garden.
