A unique and exciting adventure awaits families this spring with the launch of the Stampede By The Sea Trail, a free and interactive way to explore the stunning landscapes of West Dorset while supporting the incredible work of Weldmar Hospicecare.
This engaging trail brings together creativity, community, and a celebration of the region with eye-catching sculptures across some of West Dorset’s most beautiful locations. The trail promises to delight visitors of all ages while highlighting Weldmar Hospicecare’s vital role in providing compassionate end-of-life care to local people.
Explore the Trail
The Stampede By The Sea Trail features stunning sculptures inspired by local wildlife and crafted by talented artists, each sponsored by generous local businesses. These sculptures are placed along a scenic route through West Dorset, taking in coastal vistas, historic towns, and family-friendly attractions.
It’s a fantastic way for families to get outdoors, connect with nature, and discover the best of what the area offers – especially over the upcoming Easter break.
Each elephant will have scannable QR codes with offers, activities, and competitions for attendees to participate in – everything from guessing the number of plankton on an elephant to winning a family pass at Mapperton House!
Chief Operating Officer Matt Smith commented, “The launch of our incredible trail is just 10 weeks away, and we’re incredibly excited to see the elephants taking shape and the offers, activities and competitions our amazing sponsors are putting together for their sculptures. From baby elephants in shop windows to elephants looking out over the sea, this is set to be a fantastic way for locals and visitors to get out and about and explore the beautiful West Dorset for free this spring!
Not only does this trail support and raise vital funds for Weldmar Hospicecare, but it also brings art to life in our coastal community and is a wonderful way to showcase a diverse range of artists.
We encourage locals and visitors to follow the trail, find the elephants and support our local charity.”
