The Christmas season would never be as festive if it weren’t for a good ole Merry-Go-Round and after the breath-taking success of last year’s record-breaking entry of being the tallest Christmas Tree in Asia embellished in Swarovski crystals, The Austrian company has done it again this year, debuting the world’s first crystallised Merry-Go-Round at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s premier shopping destination.

Suitably, a sparkling event was held at Pavilion’s Centre Court which saw the glamorous and beautiful people of the capital city turn up to celebrate this wondrous occasion. With over 3 million pieces of Swarovski crystals used to decorate this unique and eye-catching Merry-Go-Round, it wasn’t just the celebrities who turned up in full force which shone that night.

Local luminaries such as Neelofa and Vince Min shone as brightly as that crystallised Merry-Go-Round as did Debbie Goh, Elaine Daly, Joanne Yew, Lynn Lim and Thanuja Ananthan. Recently crowned Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant 2016 Serene Lim and the other seven finalists were also there to add more sparkle to the occasion.

With an opening performance by Malaysian dance sensation Suhaili Micheline featuring Swarovski’s 2016 Holiday Collection followed by the lighting ceremony by Aymeric Lacroix, the MD of Swarovski’s Consumer Goods Business, South East Asia, Dato’ Joyce Yap, CEO of Retail Pavilion KL and specially invited guest, Taiwanese actor and model Godfrey Gao, it was a truly glittering affair in every sense of the word.

A hugely impressive nine metres tall, the Swarovski Merry-Go-Round utilised multi-faceted illuminating crystals with accents of gold and blue, which also happen to be the key colours for Swarovski 2016 Holiday Campaign. Weighing nearly four tonnes and fully function with 10 horses, two sleighs and one carriage on board, the Merry-Go-Round was built to exacting specifications to ensure safety and comfort of the riders.

Aside from the enjoyment the Merry-Go-Round would bring to kids and adults alike, one thing that should not be overlooked is it is all for a good cause. Part of the proceeds from the charge for the ride at RM10 will be donated to Charity at Heart, Pavilion KL’s CSR initiative as will Swarovski’s earrings sold that the venue.
