A new tasting experience has just been launched in Hotel Café Royal’s dessert restaurant, with sweet plates designed by Executive Pastry Chef, Sarah Barber, and savoury bites created by Chef de Cuisine, Armand Sablon

The dessert restaurant, which first opened in March 2016, is situated in The Café of the iconic Regent Street hotel, and Sarah Barber’s contemporary and playful desserts have already received critical acclaim. New Tasting Experience Launched at Hotel Café Royal's Dessert Restaurant 6As the perfect choice for those with a sweet tooth, to conclude a dinner or to celebrate a special occasion, the carefully orchestrated menus allow guests to enjoy a range of savoury bites to prepare the palate, before offering a unique journey of desserts.

Taking inspiration from the beginning of the summer season, the new dessert tasting menus will highlight Sarah’s creative skill and imagination, and include the Strawberry and Cream Lollipop with poached strawberries and vanilla cremeux; Yuzu Yoghurt Lego, with lemon curd, lemon sherbet and meringues; and Pina Colada Mousse with lime bubbles, coconut marshmallows and pineapple compote. Sarah’s playful, contemporary style will also be highlighted by the Wham Bam Pow, consisting of a chocolate box filled with an olive oil biscuit, passion and ginger pâte de fruit, chocolate popping candy, and whipped ganache.

To complement Sarah Barber’s desserts, Café Royal’s Chef de Cuisine, Armand Sablon, has created a menu of seasonal savoury bites, including Tomato Gazpacho with burrata, watermelon, basil and ibérico ham; London

Cured Smoked Salmon with pea and mint purée and pickled cucumber; and Beef Carpaccio with shallot purée, Parmesan marshmallow and salsa verde.

The dessert restaurant menus are all served with optional wine pairings and are available from 6pm to 10.30pm daily. The dishes have been inspired by Sarah’s childhood memories, and her grandfather, who was a Head Chef at Café Royal in the Eighties.

The Café also serves the finest breakfasts, light lunches, afternoon tea, hot drinks and wines from 8am to 6pm daily. Furthermore, the Pâtisserie offers petit gâteau such as Pistachio & apricot mille-feuille; Strawberry lemon candy cane; Raspberry rose sphere; and large entrements such as Strawberry crispy mousse with almond sponge and lemon curd and Black Forest gâteau with chocolate mushrooms.

With its entrance located on London’s vibrant Regent Street, The Café is an impressive space made from golden Siena marble, which by day offers guests the opportunity to celebrate the great European tradition of café culture. As the historic entrance of the hotel, The Café echoes the heritage of Café Royal as a favourite London spot for epicureans, intellectuals, locals and for those visiting from further afield. Guests are welcome to enjoy dishes within The Café itself, and all items are also available to take away. The tasting menus start from £26 per person.
