Fizz is a huge attraction to this glamorous, intimate and relaxed Georgian-chic champagne bar right in the middle of Soho, London.

With its lavish velvet curtains, low-lit coves and plush seating, it makes for a great hang out with a bunch of friends any night of the week. The Bubbly Attraction Of Kettner’sAnd the place is abuzz with history too – Oscar dined at the attached brasserie while Agatha Christie and Bing Crosby were celebrated regulars.

Originally a series of four Georgian town houses, Kettner’s was originally opened as a restaurant in 1867 by Auguste Kettner (chef to Napolean III) and became infamous as the rendezvous of choice and for hosting risqué parties. Today the large windows and distressed white woodwork with blinged up lighting create a relaxed and upmarket feel and you can get exactly what you expect from a quality brasserie. Steaks are cooked to personal taste, chips triple cooked and traditional puddings like the delightful sticky toffee pudding (a personal favourite) remain firmly on the menu.

Starters are light and comforting presumably to make sure that you’re not full before your main. The scallops were exceptionally tiny, dripped with garlic butter and were extremely tasty. The mains are a real showstopper here; roast halibut fillet with crushed crab and new potatoes, lobster mac ‘n’ cheese, fish cakes, pea puree with brown shrimp and butter are a fish lover’s delight, while the confit of Barbary duck leg, Toulouse sausages ‘n’ mash with onion gravy, and pork belly accompanied by red cabbage are all British classics executed perfectly.

The Bubbly Attraction Of Kettner’s 4High calorie treats are given a special treatment here and can be devoured in their very own ‘pudding bar.’ Live music is played from the beautiful white piano from Tuesday to Saturday, creating an inviting evening and a touch of ambience.

Located in the heart of thriving theatre land, this grade II listed building has no less than eight private dining rooms which are for hire. So whether you want to come along for a pre or post show drinks, are looking to settle down for a cheeky glass of fizz after work, are celebrating with a group of friends over a meal, or just want an intimate evening with a loved one, then this glamorous intimate place provides the perfect setting.
