For its 125th anniversary, The Headland—one of Cornwall’s most iconic hotels—has curated a series of events throughout the year for hotel guests and visitors to mark the special milestone.
Following the mantra’ five-star Cornwall, not formal’, The Headland offers a luxurious yet laid-back escape on the southwest coast. This is reflected in the scheduled celebrations, including an exhibition of the hotel’s archive, a 125th anniversary overnight stay celebration package, and celebratory dining experiences.
The ‘125 Anniversary Celebration’ Package
In honour of its birthday, The Headland is inviting guests to participate in the story with a specially curated ‘125 Anniversary Celebration’ package.
With prices starting from just £720, guests can enjoy a two-night stay with breakfast for two, a glass of champagne and the Restaurant RenMor’ Six of the Best’ dinner on arrival night, afternoon tea the day after they arrive, a tour of the hotel and its grounds, a visit to the archive exhibition and access to the luxury spa leisure facilities and award-winning AquaClub.
Exhibitions and Guided Tours
To celebrate the golden history of the hotel, The Headland has opened a limited-time ‘Heritage & History Exhibition’ in The Gazzle, one of the venue’s event spaces. The display is open to both hotel guests and day visitors and features some of the most iconic pieces from The Headland archive, including an invoice to a Thai prince, a thank you letter from Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald, the original minutes from The Headland’s first ever planning meeting, behind-the-scenes pictures of when The Witches was filmed and menus from through the decades since 1940.
The exhibition is in place until the end of October, and there is no admission fee.
In addition to the self-guided exhibition, The Headland also offers guided tours with the hotel’s knowledgeable concierge team. The tours take place twice daily at 9 am and 3:30 pm; the experience is open to both guests and day visitors and offers a chance to walk the building, go through its history, the Armstrongs’ ownership and more, all with an expert’s insight. Like the exhibition, the guided tours are free of charge and a great way to dive deep into The Headland’s journey over the last 125 years.
