Luxurious writer and interior designer Jenny Allan was invited to An Evening of Style at Timothy Oulton, Bluebird in Chelsea.

The event was hosted at Timothy Oulton’s eponymous interiors flagship store on King’s Road, Chelsea. There was a large selection of high-end brands showcasing their products, such as Charlotte Tilbury, Sophia Webster and Penhaligon’s.

Timothy Oulton’s London store is an incredible design haven with furniture and accessories that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. Four key elements that the brand stands for are: heritage, innovation, creativity and hospitality. This is displayed by the unique store layout and design.

From floor-to-ceiling columns of decoratively stacked books to a model train set running around the ceiling to even a wall covered in cricket bats, the Timothy Oulton interiors’ experience is one not to be missed!

The products themselves have a quirky but luxurious appeal. The lighting selection is unique, with a different use of materials to standard off-the-shelf lighting. For example, Selenite was used to create a beautiful chandelier.

The use of lighting in their inception mirrors is another special aspect of Timothy Oulton’s designs.

The mirrors are inspired by 70s infinity mirrors and they light up to reveal a seemingly endless line of reflections which appear smaller and smaller as they fade into the distance.

If the lights are turned off the mirror turns back to a standard mirror but it really adds an additional layer of interest to a design.

Other quirky pieces included the selection of case goods; for example, the base of a coffee table was a used propeller from a Chinese fishing boat with a pane of glass on top of it, another was a bookcase created in the style of a Spitfire and also a leather covered fridge which housed the evening’s Veuve Clicquot champagne!

Leather is a favoured material of Timothy Oulton, and this was used on sofas, chairs, chests and many other accessories. Its distinctive, handcrafted image is the very style of Timothy Oulton.

Timothy Oulton’s Apollo

A highlight of the evening was enjoying champagne in the Apollo Capsule. Inspired by the original Apollo 11, this stunning, stainless steel capsule was created by the Timothy Oulton Studio, and it is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship.

The inside is leather lined with buttoned seating, an Alabaster central table, a sheep fur carpet and an Alabaster chandelier; even the staircase into the pod is woven in leather.

Other products that were showcased from complementary partner brands fitted in perfectly with the interiors and the evening. Sophia Webster’s stunning butterfly heels range was displayed next to the Apollo Capsule, and the quality of the products complimented the interiors.

If you are looking for something beautiful and unique for your home I would definitely recommend a visit to the Timothy Oulton showroom, it won’t disappoint.
