Art, Fashion and Design have found themselves drawn closer with the world of spirits over recent years and for a good reason. People buy with their eyes, and 1800 Tequila understands this, which is why they’ve collaborated with the streetwear artist Daniel Cordas to create a spectacular limited collection of bottles.

Just about everyone on the planet realises that looks count in the luxury lifestyle world, and if Facebook has their way with their vision of a Metaverse (personally, I hope they won’t), dull, unglamorous looking products will be falling by the wayside in their droves.

Over recent years we’ve frequently written about how the wine and spirits industry needs to be more creative with its presentation. We appreciate that the contents are generally of high quality; however, it’s how something looks that prompts a positive reaction.

Fortunately, we seem to be witnessing a seed change in the spirits industry. For many decades, spirits have been put on display in people’s homes, but quite frankly, some bottles of spirits have exteriors that have deservedly confined them to the darkest recesses of a cupboard or cabinet with their backs facing the light.

The bottle shape, the labelling, and the colour are all things that can prompt curiosity and help increase the overall enjoyment level. The whisky brand Royal Salute’s recent collaboration with the British fashion designer Richard Quinn is a great example and has helped introduce their whisky to a new demographic.

Another spirits brand that understands the importance of how something looks is 1800 Tequila.

The renowned tequila brand has recently collaborated with the British streetwear artist Daniel Cordas to create a limited edition range that has resulted in an eye-catching bottle that pays homage to Mexican street art and its historical roots.

For most people, when they think of Mexico, a vision of bright colours and patterns, sombreros, spicy food and a Mariachi band (in that order) usually comes to mind.

Daniel is known for his artistic reimagining of sneakers and his bespoke artwork, which has attracted a celebrity following, including the likes of Billie Eilish, Chipmunk, Stormzy and the boxer Floyd Mayweather. He has utilised his passion for UK street culture and blended it with contemporary Mexican art and Mayan artistry on the 1800 Tequila bottle design.

The collaboration consists of just 500 limited-edition, individually numbered bottles. Within the 500 will be an extraordinary one-of-a-kind bottle painted by Daniel, so someone will have the chance to own an exclusive piece of his artwork. In addition to this, 1800 Tequila and Daniel have put up some other prizes, including a bespoke set of trainers designed by Daniel and worth £1,000, plus limited edition prints and t-shirts.

The bespoke art, which is printed onto each of the 500 bottles, celebrates the brand’s commitment to the arts and their fondness for street culture and urban art.

Daniel’s design contains his floral signature style and affection for pastel hues that meld with Mexican folk art and associated iconography.

At the base of the bottle is the agave plant. Daniel has used warm oranges and reds among fresh greens and icy blues to prompt feelings of heat and refreshment.

Daniel said, “Mixing colour and composition with the same slickness as an 1800 Margarita, I’ve infused authentic Mexican folk art with my own style and signature floral. The iconic Agave plant is at the heart of my design, honoured by this cocktail of colour. The limited run of bottles has been produced directly from my painting and pay homage to Mayan artistry and its influence on contemporary art.”
