A Guide to Getting Featured in Luxurious Magazine
When my wife Natasha and I decided to end our ‘early’ retirement on Penang Island in Malaysia more than fifteen years ago, we did so based on a desire to create something beneficial to the world.
Our goal was not to create something that would bring us fame or financial reward; that would only bring us additional stress and hassles. We wanted to make the safest possible online information resource, a news platform that others would consider ethical, reliable, helpful, enlightening and motivational.
Our decision to never advertise ourselves, pare back on our use of social media, and instead rely on the quality of our work to build our foundations would likely be viewed as old-fashioned, nigh impossible in this day and age. However, it has worked for us, and we intend to continue moving forward in the same vein.
As a media brand with a reputation for quality, we are cautious about what we feature. Every editorial piece must adhere to our positive, informative, and non-contentious ethos.
Some news releases and stories, of which we receive many 100s each day, inadvertently contain mistakes, and they are often written using automated/AI writing software, making them less enjoyable to read. Every submitted news piece we publish is, at least partly rewritten, where possible, fact-checked and corrected. We should also mention that adding audio guides greatly increases the workload as it often requires writing a new script.
I appreciate that the role of companies and those working in public relations is to get something for free. However, we frequently find that we will publish a beautiful, well-crafted piece that is clearly shown on the magazine’s front page, which sits at the top of the search engine results, and a day or two later, we are chased up, asking if we have any interest. Taking two minutes out of a day to visit the magazine to check or type the piece’s topic in a search engine is hardly taxing.
Helpful Hints
If you contact us with a suggestion for an editorial review, please note that we will perform detailed research before agreeing. We do this to ensure that the product or service is suitable and that we can add value with our opinions and words.
Responses such as “We are out of samples” or “We will ask the brand” are always noted and will reduce the likelihood of us working with you in the future.
Another way to increase the chances of getting published is to offer the news to us first (not as an exclusive, just first). Additionally, provide links to relevant images with your submission to avoid unnecessary delays.
Advice for Brand and Business Owners
If you are engaging the services of an industry professional and want to be featured by us, you need to ask them to make an effort. Often, we will be emailed starting with the words, ‘Dear [Insert name here], which indicates that it’s just a ‘numbers game’ being played. We don’t need to remind you that you are paying someone to represent you and your brand/company.
Also, using an automated system to mass-email everyone in the press might get you featured somewhere obscure. However, effort is necessary if you want to be featured by the most prominent news outlets with the widest reach.
Industry Pricing and Additional Information
Being probably the only global lifestyle magazine of significant standing that does not contain display advertising, we do not need to produce a media pack. However, we appreciate that those working in marketing, public relations, and advertising require information for their employer and client reports.
If we were to accept payment for the creation and publication of pieces, the prices would be as follows:
For standard articles up to 500 words, we would put the price at £350.00. For articles up to 500 words with an audio guide, the cost would be £450. For articles up to 750 words without an audio guide, the price would be £500 and £600 with an audio guide. And for articles up to 1200 words without an audio guide, it would be £600 without an audio guide and £800 with an audio guide.
We are frequently asked about the size of our readership. As we have content syndication agreements with our articles that are not hosted on our servers, getting a number is difficult. However, an investigation of our own servers reveals that the number of direct, individual, and ‘unique monthly visitors’ to Luxurious Magazine ranged from 575,000 to 1.1 million during 2024.
In January 2025, we welcomed approximately 707,100 unique visitors, the majority of whom (in order) came from the United States, which is our largest market, followed by visitors from the United Kingdom, Singapore, Germany, Hong Kong, and China.
