Absalon Hotel

A favourite with locals and tourists alike, Absalon Hotel in Vestebro, is a great go-to when the few luxury hotels in the city are fully booked. And since they’re so exclusive, this is often the case.

This boutique bolt hole won this year’s Travellers Choice Award on Trip Advisor and for good reason. The neoclassical building is brimming with personality, with its colourful décor and unreservedly friendly staff. All 161 rooms feature vibrant Designers Guild’s fabrics and wallpapers. But it’s the Tricia Guild Suite that you’ll want to book if luxury is at the top of your checklist.

The exclusive Tricia Guild Suite overlooks the rooftops of Copenhagen. It is enormous, with a living room big enough to host a small party and a master bedroom, concealed behind a pair of French doors. Bright wallpapers and quirky sculptures add an arty twist to the living space, yet the suite still feels refined. Never before have a stayed in a room that blended bright pinks, greens and oranges with florals and stripes. But in Absalon, it works. Everything within the Tricia Guild Suite is XXL and indulgent, like the bed with its plush pillows and the curved TV that takes up an entire corner of the room.

Out of all the hotels I visited during my stay, this was certainly the most eye-catching, offering something refreshingly different – as if I were staying in an artist’s home.
