Cowal Open Studios, an organisation representing artists and makers across the peninsula, is now open for 2024 membership applications.

Following a successful last twelve months, Cowal Open Studios (COS) has a number of exciting events planned for the year ahead, including the Cowal Artfest, a two-day fair planned for Dunoon’s Burgh Hall on the 4th and 5th of May which will feature around 50 artists and makers showcasing and selling their work to the general public.

There will also be live music and poetry taking place in Burgh Hall’s café and garden on Saturday 4th, May, from 4-6 PM.

The group’s well-established ‘Open Studios’ weekend takes place from the 20th to the 23rd of September, with artists across Cowal once again opening up their studios and workshops to the public.

At the end of January, there will also be a programme of five pop-up art exhibitions within Burgh Hall’s small gallery room.

Jenny Phillips of COS said, “We’re all looking forward to another exciting year and have opened up our membership applications for both existing and new members.

“We live in an inspiring area of Scotland that will always attract creative talent and look forward to welcoming members, both old and new, who are keen to promote and showcase their works to a wider audience.

“The Cowal Artfest in early May represents another great opportunity for our members to get together and sell their creations in the fantastic surroundings of the big hall at the Burgh Hall.

“We will be getting 2024 up and running with a series of five pop-up exhibitions from January 31st to April 7th at the Burgh Hall with four artists profiled within the gallery space as part of each exhibition.”

“There’s clearly a strong appetite from local people and those ‘across the watter’ to purchase artworks that reflect our spectacular corner of Argyll,” added Jenny.

COS also has plans to revamp its web presence as well as continue with its community outreach programmes and young artist award.
