You won’t find finer on any liner, promise chefs on remastered Queen Mary 2

The world’s most demanding diners will find themselves as satisfied as their stomachs when the remastered Cunard liner Queen Mary 2 emerges from her refit.

For, ever mindful that passengers on board a ship at sea can hardly pop out for a meal elsewhere if they don’t like what’s on offer, Cunard is adding two new restaurants and upgrading the menus of all the rest after the June refit.

The ultra-luxurious Queen Mary 2 will steam back into service with a newly-created Carinthia Lounge, a hark back to the famed Grill on the original Queen Mary in the shape of The Verandah restaurant, a new Smokehouse alternative dining concept, and a complete transformation of the Kings Court Buffet.

To ensure that dining aboard the world’s finest cruise ship remains as enviable as possible, Cunard’s teams of chefs, led by Head Development Chef Craig Dunn and identical twin Executive Chefs Mark and Nicholas Oldroyd, have been working with suppliers and other culinary experts in a specially-commissioned Development Kitchen in Southampton, creating and testing new menus.

The results, proof of Cunard’s legendary appetite for continuous incremental improvement, look likely to compare with anything available on land.

The Carinthia Lounge will serve alternative breakfasts and lunches with bespoke premium coffees, the Veuve Cliquot Champagne Bar will offer afternoon teas to die for, judging by the pictures, and the menus will be refreshed in both the Britannia Restaurant and, if you didn’t know it had one, a traditional British pub, the Golden Lion.

“We pride ourselves in delivering a culinary experience that continuously exceeds guest expectations and illustrates Cunard’s utmost attention to detail,” says Cunard Marketing Director Angus Struthers.
