Leanne Kelsall reviews the K Bar Sessions – a new weekly live music event at the sophisticated Kensington hotel.

Live music, a roaring fire and a delectable list of cocktails. What’s not to love?

The K Bar Sessions are a new series of weekly music nights at five-star boutique hotel The Kensington.

The hotel – a beautifully restored townhouse – is a short stroll from South Kensington tube station and set within one of London’s most desirable neighbourhoods.

The music nights take place every Thursday at the hotel’s glamorous K Bar. The décor is modern and luxurious with a laid-back feel – you could easily while away several hours sunk into one of the plush armchairs.

The bar is inspired by a Gentleman’s Club, with dark oak panelling, royal blue furnishings and polished brass accents.

As well as the K Bar’s usual cocktail menu, which includes classic and unique recipes, there’s a special gin-based cocktail offering which has been created in partnership with The Botanist.

My highlight from the carefully crafted menu is ‘Lord of the Isles’ – a tangy, tropical tipple which combines Velvet Falernum liqueur, grapefruit and lemon juice, rhubarb bitters and an egg white. The flavours are heightened by The Botanist.

If you find yourself in need of some nibbles, the gourmet bar snacks menu won’t disappoint. It’s a taste of the fine dining available at the hotel restaurant (read our review here).

Artists cover all genres during the music nights so you’re guaranteed to find a tune that gets you going. That, combined with top-notch cocktails, good company and a cosy atmosphere gives you a recipe for a memorable Thursday night. And, after all, Thursday is the new Friday.
