Authentic Spanish tapas bar El Pirata, will be celebrating Spain’s famous La Tomatina Festival with a special ‘Tomatina Tapas’ menu.

Every year, the iconic festival sees thousands of tourists throw tomatoes at each other in the name of fun. It’s held in the Spanish town of Buñol but you can get a taste of the action (minus any tomato throwing) at El Pirata in Mayfair.

The themed menu, running from Monday 14th – 31st August, includes Tomate relleno con Risotto (tomato stuffed with risotto) and Bacalao con Pisto (fresh cod fillet with vegetable stew and cherry tomatoes) as well as a quirky dessert of Mousse de Tomate (tomato mousse).

La Tomatina – or ‘the world’s biggest food fight’ – began in the 1940s and originally started as a political protest. It gained its notability from the throwing of millions of over-ripe tomatoes.

El Pirata restaurant offers diners exquisite Spanish tapas, made using the highest quality ingredients. This Mayfair favourite prides itself on welcoming guests with a warm, friendly and informal atmosphere that’s more Madrid than London.
