Islay’s most polarising whisky, Laphroaig® is demonstrating once again how much it values its friends by launching a new exclusive whisky – Cairdeas 15 Year Old.

FRIENDS ONLY
On Islay there is a saying; “We don’t make friends easily but the ones we do are for life”. Starting way back in 1994, Friends of Laphroaig are fans, friends and followers of our unique whisky from all over the world. Never short of an opinion or two they help us explore new expressions, attend tastings and sometimes even make the trek to Islay itself. We are fortunate and proud to have each and every one of our Friends of Laphroaig, so we make sure that being a Friend does come with benefits, including exclusive bottlings, the latest of which is Cairdeas 15 Year Old.

CAIRDEAS 15 YEAR OLD
Cairdeas means ‘friendship’ in Gaelic and, each year, distillery manager and fifth generation Islay native John Campbell crafts a limited edition malt to celebrate the friendship of Laphroaig’s loyal fans available exclusively to Friends of Laphroaig. For 2017 that release is Cairdeas 15 Year Old, available exclusively online and at the distillery now.

This annual limited edition was distilled throughout 2002, then poured into first fill ex-bourbon casks to mature this whisky next to the Atlantic Ocean.

TASTING NOTES:
Bright golden in colour, Cairdeas 15 Year Old offers sweet vanilla and subtle spice on the nose reminiscent of fresh nutmeg and toasted almonds. On the palate, these notes develop into gentle, warming peat smoke to create a whisky that’s best enjoyed neat or over ice with friends.

The whisky is available online exclusively to Friends of Laphroaig and at the distillery now for an RRP of £80.

John Campbell, Laphroaig distillery manager, comments: “Our friends are very important to us at Laphroaig. It’s a polarising whisky, so it means a great deal that our fans remain loyal to us. Friends of Laphroaig gives us a great opportunity to engage with our supporters and give back to them with these exclusive Cairdeas whiskies.”
