Ambre 2005 was created by France’s Champagne Christian Briard to take advantage of the very best of the Marne Valley River grapes harvested during 2005.

This was a really special year, dry and hot with cold periods during winter and the ripening season.

The blends found in this beverage are made from the best Pinot Meuniers (66%), Pinots Noirs (14%) and Chardonnay (20%) grapes. The Chief Cellar master, M. Philippe Dupuis, made it as an extremely refined wine, structured with rich and complex material. The colour is a rich and intensively gold shade. The nose reveals an intricate array of aromas marrying fresh flowers with yellow fruits such as apricot. On the palate, the sensation is both soft and invigorating with wonderful depth and complexity.

Ambre 2005 has been aged in our cellars for over eight years, and the final result is breath-taking. Housed in an elegant symphony-shaped bottle, this is a really elegant champagne and one which can be enjoyed during those very special moments.

This beautiful vintage can be paired with:

– Scallop mousse with green tea
– Hazelnut shortbread with Saint Jacques cheese
– Sweetbread samosas with citrus fruits
– Creole chicken supreme with Salpicon of pineapple
– Swiss chard tart with pecan nuts
– Sweetbread spring rolls with liquorice

Ambre 2005 has recently been nominated as a 2nd Great Wine in Champagne, power category, by M. Dussert-Gerber, the famous French wine critic. M. Dussert-Gerber defines the second great wines of Champagne as “those which have provided the most surprises during the last 12 months”. All Champagne Christian Briard bottles are held in their optimum storage condition until the moment of consumption. They should be stored horizontally, in a cool, dry place (around 10°C/50°F) and away from the light.
