First unveiled in December 2009 after four years of hard work by the Master Blender Jean-Marc Olivier (who is only one of six since 1902), L’Essence de Courvoisier is an elegant and complex cognac which encapsulates the spirit of Courvoisier.

Each defining moment in the company’s history has contributed to the creation of this most exquisite blend, from its Napoleonic roots to the modern-day meticulous patience, passion and precision of its master blenders.

L’Essence de Courvoisier is an exquisite blend of the most rare and innovative eaux de vie from the most exclusive cognac crus (including Grande Champagne and Borderies) from the last two centuries. It also incorporates cognacs dating back to the 1970s, and is housed in an exclusive and uniquely numbered tear-dropped Baccarat crystal decanter which is suspended in an elegant gold frame. It is completed with a finely crafted (hand-made) crystal stopper unique to the decanter, inspired by the ten different signet rings Napoleon Bonaparte gave to commanders in his army, in recognition of noble acts.

L’Essence de Courvoisier has a flowery and nutty taste that unveils some caramel notes and honey, and is available from Harrods priced at £1,800.00 per decanter.

Cognac aficionados can also discover the true taste of luxury with Le Voyage de Napoleon, a unique new range of cognacs from Courvoisier, available at duty free stores in airports across Europe, spanning from London to Moscow. This beautifully presented collection comprises the award-winning Courvoisier XO, as well as two exclusive blends of Courvoisier VS and VSOP, specially crafted for the taste of the discerning traveller and the ideal gift to bring home for a special occasion such as Father’s Day. Inspired by Napoleon’s adventures and historical significance, the cognac house has designed Le Voyage de Napoleon to take any enthusiast on an intense journey of the senses. Each box is elegantly decorated with a subtle pattern featuring Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation Leo, Napoleon’s birth sign.
