Getting there

Tuscany is easily accessed by several major airports, including Florence and Pisa, with direct flights from the UK via British Airways, EasyJet and Ryanair.

Given the landscape, unless you’re staying in the main cities, you’ll want to hire a car to get out into the countryside. Be sure to check in advance before driving into the city centres, as many areas are off-limits to non-residents.

For car hire, I used Auto Europe’s luxury service to drive across Tuscany. Choose from a selection of luxury cars, from Ferraris to Mercedes, and have them delivered to a place that suits you (or collect it from the airport). If you’ve got a road trip planned, you can drop your Auto Europe car hire off at a different location to where you’ve picked it up.
