Montegrappa is pleased to announce that the winner of the ‘Global Meaning Of Life’ Competition organised by the Global Penfriends Internet Friends Club is the recipient of a beautiful Montegrappa Extra 1930 fountain pen in black & white celluloid with sterling silver trim.
Global Penfriends Internet Friends Club – with its head office is in Perth, Western Australia – was founded in 1995 and specialises in Postal (“snail mail”) and E-mail penpals from all around the world. The group’s members are REAL people of all ages, looking for penfriends.
In the words of Stuart Bourn, “Our mission is to keep the age old art of letter writing alive, through innovative use of modern technology. Our site is family friendly and developed with safety in mind. People of all ages are welcome here and can search for new contacts in a safe and friendly environment.”
To celebrate its goals, Global Penfriends launched its first-ever “Global Meaning Of Life” Competition. Global Penfriends, while searching to bring the world’s disparate cultures together, asked of its participants to find the answer to that age old question, “What is the meaning of life?” Entrants were asked to represent their home countries, in order to determine if and how the “Meaning of Life” was shaped by the cultures in which we live.
As noted by Stuart, “Judging the competition proved very difficult. We had five judges who read all of the entries. Common themes emerged, concerning what different cultures see as the meaning of life. These included happiness, family, friends, challenging one’s self and self-growth. After much debate, the entry from The Gambia by Oumie Badjan-Njiewas was decided to be the winner.”
Montegrappa was happy to provide the Extra 1930 fountain pen, which will no doubt encourage Ms. Badjan-Njiewas to create even more inspiring prose.
