Over the past 28 days, Montenegro has reported no new cases of COVID-19. In light of this, the Government of Montenegro has further relaxed measures for international maritime arrivals by removing quarantine requirements for arriving yachts.
As I sit here writing this piece, it seems incredible to read about somewhere that has reported zero cases of COVID-19 in the past 28 days. Some might question the accuracy of these numbers, but this is the official opinion of the Montenegrin Government.
The lack of cases has allowed the government to relax many of the restrictions it has imposed over the past months. Probably the most significant relaxation is in opening its borders to all countries with less than 25 confirmed cases of the virus per 100,000 inhabitants. People from the countries meeting this criterion will also no longer need to quarantine.
It’s not only visitors to the country who will benefit from the relaxation of rules. We have also been informed that all businesses in Montenegro are said to now be open and fully functioning.
The list of countries where yachts can arrive from with the need to quarantine for 14 days is too extensive to publish. However, this should be quite easy to find with an internet search.
There are some glaring omissions from the list, and these include countries such as the United Kingdom, United States, France and Italy, some of the most renowned superyacht hubs and homes to the most prominent boatbuilders.
Porto Montenegro has also implemented some extra procedures to maintain residents and guests safety. These include testing for their clients and staff—luggage disinfection for marina and hotel guests and stringent hygiene standards across the entire marina and nautical village.
