In our ongoing quest to find places where you can escape the chaos currently seen around the world, we’re heading to Palawan Island in the Philippines to investigate the tranquil luxury to be found at the Pavilions El Nido.

For many, life as we know it has changed considerably this year and the lure of living in a busy built-up environment has all but evaporated. Many people now crave a better quality of life and are less focused on having more than the next or impressing people they don’t even know.

Over the past couple of months, we’ve been writing about places where the quality of life comes first, and in this piece, we’ll be investigating what The Pavilions El Nido, Palawan Island has to offer.

For those unfamiliar with Palawan Island, it is the fifth-largest island in the country and has garnered numerous awards including being named as the ‘Most Beautiful Island in the World’. If you are lucky enough to own a home here, you’ll be excited by know that on the Northern tip of the island is El Nido beach which has been voted the most beautiful beach in the world.

Unless you are one of the lucky few reading this currently residing in a tropical paradise, look around you. Ask yourself if you are happy and imagine what life would be like on Palawan Island.

The Pavilions El Nido, Palawan Island, is a luxury development in the Philippines, and the first thing we should mention is the properties there are selling fast. From what we are led to believe half of the 66 off-plan villas and over-water suites in phase one are already reserved, with the full complement of 96 units on target to sell-out before the close of this year.

The resort will be fully operational in early 2022 and ticks most of the ‘new normal’ boxes in terms of a worldwide craving for safe sanctuary.

The properties at the resort are all purpose-built, are detached and sit on their own plots. They also benefit from private swimming pools and private kitchens so that guests can holiday in splendid isolation should they so desire.

Life here is distinctly biased towards the outdoors with snorkelling, diving, and walking on your doorstep. It also has its own on-site Adventure Park which allows you the opportunity to connect with the unspoilt nature.

While we’re on the subject of nature, we should mention the whole archipelago is a Unesco Biosphere Reserve which is noted for its sustainable development and conservation efforts.

Over the past five years, the Philippines has been the recipient of large scale inward investment which is fuelled by consistent growth in international and domestic visitors.

In 2019, foreign arrivals rose by 15.24% to 8.26 million. According to a survey by the Department of Tourism (DOT), these tourists most liked the Filipino’s warm hospitality (46.35%), beautiful scenery (30.04%) and good food (8.45%).

Palawan ranked sixth among Philippines most-visited places, famed for its diverse flora and fauna, coral reefs, mangrove, tropical rainforest, powder-white beaches, and turquoise seas peppered with vegetation-clad limestone rock formations.

One main island surrounded by a cluster of 1,700 smaller ones, the Biosphere Reserve of Palawan has consistently been insulated from the spread of COVID-19. El Nido has had the grand total of one case to date.

The Pavilions El Nido, Palawan Island, is The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts first five-star foray in the Philippines. It features a sumptuous mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom luxury villas, plus Maldivian-style over-water villas, each with their own private plunge pool.
