Being a lifelong Beatles fan, I jumped at the chance to write about Raymond Weil’s Maestro Music Icons Collection, which contains some stylish tributes to the band whose music inspired me during my childhood days.

For most people of my generation, nothing tops the Beatles. Their songs were a familiar backing track to many sibling quarrels in the car during the early 1970s. After seeing Raymond Weil has created some Maestro Beatles watches, I was compelled to put my thoughts into words.

The first watch is The Beatles “Abbey Road” limited edition, a homage to the band recording many great songs at the London studio and their final album. The black dial replicates an LP record, embellished with micro grooves and an ‘Abbey Road’ album unique index at 4 o’clock.

Located at the centre of the dial is an official Beatles logo, at 3 o’clock is the date, and there is a sweep seconds hand. Inside is an automatic winding RW 4200 movement that powers the watch, which comes in stainless steel along with the bracelet. The back shows a smoked sapphire crystal incorporating the Beatles logo and limited edition engraving.

These watches are a limited edition with just 3,000 available. The watch draws its inspiration from the iconic image of the Beatles on the zebra crossing outside the Abbey Road studio. In between the three and five indicators on the dial are the four band members striding along the dial’s grooves.

The Swiss brand has now been in partnership with Apple Corp for over three years, initially launching a timepiece that celebrated the thirteen studio albums created by The Beatles between 1960 – 1970.

My second choice celebrates Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album, the cover of which was designed by the father of English pop art, Sir Peter Blake. It stands out through its innovative use of materials and design. It shares the same RW 4200 automatic movement used in the Abbey Road piece.

It has a beautiful 40mm polished yellow gold PVD plated stainless steel case, which envelops the workings. The watch has 38 hours of power reserve which is excellent.

As Goldfinger told James Bond, “I love Gold”, and I do love a watch in Rose Gold. The Maestro Rose Gold features a rose gold PVD stainless steel 40mm case, a Grey Arabic dial with Rose Gold hands and a brown leather strap to enhance the traditional look of this watch.

The RW4200 mechanical with automatic winding movement features a 38-hour power reserve. It is beautiful and desirable belying its price.
