Try to get your tongue around the name of Skoda’s new electric SUV the Enyaq iV and everyone will have a different opinion of how it is pronounced. They will, however, agree that the Czech firm has produced what looks to be a very nice electric car.

The Enyaq iV uses the VW Group’s MED modular electric car platform and is available as an All Wheel Drive model or Rear Wheel version. It fits nicely into the Czech company’s SUV lineup, offering customers the choice of full-electric, which is growing in popularity.

Skoda state the Enyaq iV will provide an everyday driving range of 316 miles on a full charge which offers comparatively decent practicality. It also puts pay to the range anxiety which some electric vehicles can induce.

Škoda continues to develop its emotive design language with the Enyaq iV featuring an all-new interior concept offering Design Selections rather than classic trim levels. Skoda also now offers a brand-new structure of options available. One particular highlight is the exclusive Enyaq iV Founders Edition, which is limited to 1,895 units and is commemorating the company’s anniversary celebrating 125 years of success.

Thomas Schäfer, Škoda Auto CEO commented; “The launch of the Enyaq iV sees the start of a new era for Škoda. This is our first all-electric car to be based on the MEB platform. By launching this model, we are making E-Mobility Simply Clever –with long ranges, quick charging, ease of operation and affordable prices. The Enyaq iV is made in Škoda’s heartland, Mladá Boleslav, making our main plant the only production facility for MEB-based vehicles in Europe outside Germany.

This is a great testament to Škoda’s expertise, and I would like to thank the entire team that got the Enyaq iV rolling. It’s a great car, and I’m really proud of the team.”

The Founders Edition is limited to 1,895 units offering exclusivity and a supremely well-equipped vehicle. It pays homage, to the company’s successful history and its founding by Václav Laurin and Václav Klement 125years ago. The multifunction leather steering wheel has a Founders Edition badge, produced by the Czech crystal manufacturer Preciosa.

It displays the model’s number, confirming it is from the limited range. The exclusive Enyaq iV Founders Edition will be delivered spring 2021. The vehicle boasts a unique illuminated radiator grille along with 21-inch alloys which will be an option on the Enyaq 80 iV and Enyaq 80 xiV.

Inside the SUV the Skoda Connectivity has a 13inch central screen, more extensive than in any other model. The all-new SUV is always online and cleverly connected. Battery charging and the interior’s air conditioning can be conveniently controlled remotely via the Skoda Connect app.

Skoda’s Simply Clever ideas mean there is a cleaner for the charging cable, a protective cap for the charging socket and a compartment for the charging cable under the boot floor. The new centre console is arranged over two levels providing plenty of space. An innovative insert ensures that the false boot floor is neat and tidy. In the EnyaqiV, the classic Skoda ice scraper is inside the car are inside the tailgate.

The company has My Škoda Power pass allowing owners to efficiently and conveniently recharge their vehicles at most of the charging points in the European Union using just a single card.  The Czech company is also involved in building the Ionity quick-charging network throughout Europe.

Skoda has three versions of the Škoda iV wall box for home charging. Using the fast-charging cable, the owners can recharge their Škoda EnyaqiV at fast-charging stations too.

The Enyaq iV has a short front section, with an elongated roofline creating a dynamic exterior at the same time offering a generous volume of space typical of the brand. The new SUV has a similarly spacious interior as the Kodiaq, despite being shorter in length than an Octavia.

As the move away from ICE-powered vehicles continues, all manufacturers are launching at least one electric model in their ranges. Skoda looked to have produced another popular car in their  SUV section, one I am looking forward to driving. My Kodiaq does everything I have asked of it so far, so I would like to compare what the Enyaq iV can do? Watch this space for a full review.
