Newly opened restaurant, Strut & Cluck, has now launched fantastic weekend brunch menus, with a range of delicious dishes all inspired by the founders’ Eastern Mediterranean heritage

Amir and Limor Chen’s Strut & Cluck opened in Shoreditch, London in June 2016. Inspired by Eastern Mediterranean home cooking, the restaurant serves healthy free-range turkey meat in new and exciting ways, alongside delicious sides, salads and sharing dishes, all in bright and welcoming surroundings.

Limor started cooking turkey for her family as a healthy alternative to chicken and soon discovered the wonderful flavour and great versatility of this lean, high-protein superfood. At Strut & Cluck, the turkey is marinated for 24 hours in the family herb and spice blend, slow-cooked to ensure the tenderness of the meat, then served in a variety of dishes all inspired by the founders’ Eastern Mediterranean heritage. These include, Limor’s slow-roast thigh with caramelised red onions, sweet potatoes and barberries; Sticky wings with harissa, honey, rosemary and sesame; and Koftas with currants, cashews, seared okra, and beetroot hummus and of course, the new brunch menus.

Highlights from the new Tel Aviv inspired brunch menus include a choice of eggs accompanied by a selection of mazetim, or small plates, including Labneh with za’atar, Feta with honey, sesame and sumac, Zhoug, and Homemade preserves.

Guests can also choose from dishes such as Shakshuka of eggs cooked with tomatoes, peppers, onions, a touch of chilli, and served with fresh pita; Persian herb frittata; Fried egg on hand-pulled turkey shawarma with dates, pine nuts, tahini and pita; and Sabikh on grilled sourdough with aubergine, soft boiled egg, tahini and sumac.

Soft drinks will include the Limonana; and Peach and rose iced tea; while cocktails such as a classic Bloody Mary and Boozy Earl Grey will also be available. Brunch will be served on weekends and bank holidays, from 11am-3pm.

The bespoke list of house cocktails has been designed to complement the flavours seen on the menus, with drinks such as A Brew with Arak combining gin, pomegranate tea infused Arak, mint, and pomegranate juice; and A Wild Date seeing Wild Turkey Bourbon mixed with Hedonist, date syrup, and Hell Fire Bitters. A carefully curated list of craft beers, ciders, and wines is also available, and features the 2011 Galil Lela, from Upper Galilee in Israel, a unique winery committed to revitalising the region’s rich history of winemaking.

The striking design and bright and airy décor of Strut & Cluck has been inspired by the founders’ love of the natural world, with soft lighting, wild flowers, rustic materials, old family photograph’s, and Limor’s own works of art all filling the space. The 75 cover restaurant is divided into a central bar for 12 diners, a private dining room for 8 guests, and a large seating area designed to evoke an outside terrace, filled with hanging baskets, lanterns, wooden shutters and natural light. The lively yet relaxed atmosphere and Mediterranean feel of Strut & Cluck is further enhanced by a soundtrack curated especially for the restaurant to include Israeli hip hop, north African beats, and Balkan, Greek, and French-north African influences.
