Set to open in spring 2018, The City’s newest hotel is modern and luxurious while celebrating the area’s storied past.

In the heart of London’s historic Vintry Ward, The Vintry & Mercer Hotel, set to open this spring, looks to be one of 2018’s most anticipated openings.

The hotel is inspired by (and named after) local fine wine and silk trading guilds, with nods to these historic guilds throughout the hotel.

Vintry & Mercer comes from the team behind The Ampersand Hotel in South Kensington and will join the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

The hotel boasts 92 bedrooms filled with plush interiors and all the mod cons a modern traveller would want: free WiFi, LED TVs with movies, Nespresso machines and 24-hour room service.

Each modern and homely room or suite will feature elements that celebrate the heritage of the area, such as historical maps and vintage-inspired textiles. It’s a charming mix of old and new.

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to dining. On the ground floor, The Vintry Kitchen offers all-day Mediterranean dining while the Mercer Roof Terrace, with its charcoal oven, provides a more formal dining option with stunning views over the Southbank.

Possibly the coolest part of the hotel, though, and something that’s sure to draw in the crowds, is its Speakeasy-style bar. Do Not Disturb (DND) is hidden underground and takes inspiration from the bars of New York in the 1920s.

Vintry & Mercer Hotel also benefits from a high-tech gym – a nice bonus for a hotel in the heart of The City.

The hotel is a two-minute walk from Cannon Street tube station, with landmarks such as St. Paul’s Cathedral and London Bridge a short stroll away.
