When it comes to the fashion scene in Asia, we can always rely on the most perfectly attired member of the editorial team, Ong Chin Huat. For this feature, Chin pays a visit to Celine’s latest Concept Store at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

Conceptually austere but visually appealing, the brand new Celine concept store opened in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur recently, much to the thrill of the French brand’s legion of fans.

Highly anticipated and long-awaited, the new Celine store occupies 316 square metres on two floors and incorporates architectural elements designed by the brand’s creative director himself, Hedi Slimane.

With the use of sumptuous materials such as black granite, antique marble and grey travertine which is juxtaposed with reclaimed oak, concrete and brass, this Brutalist-inspired store interior also contains furniture designed by Slimane himself.

The modernist wood and straw chairs dotted around the duplex store and VIP room being the perfect example.

Sleek and modern, Celine’s new store’s interior serves as the perfect backdrop to show off Slimane’s collection of women’s ready-to-wear clothes, bags, shoes, and accessories.

Sharp silhouettes and nonchalant looks, in the form of quilted silk hoodies and floaty dresses, take a luxurious turn in this stunning new store.

Not forgetting the hot it-bag, Celine’s Triomphe steals the show along with the Ava bag on the mirrored stone shelves, while gold jewellery glitters from the inside glass display cabinets. Lovers of Celine would be hard put to find another place more suitable to indulge in their passion.

And if all that shopping is too much, retire to the VIP room on the upper level for a breather and flip through some art and design books. All of which were specifically chosen by Slimane himself and are a great source of inspiration.

While there, don’t forget to admire the bronze sculpture by French artist Hedva Ser which takes centre stage on a stone coffee table before leaving.
