The Gleneagles luxury hotel and spa partners with leading personal trainer Matt Roberts, to create an exclusive wellness retreat at the nigh 100 year-old Perthshire property

Called The Matt Roberts Retreat, this three-day event will run from Friday 30 September to Sunday 2 October 2016, providing participants with the motivational boost to achieve a healthier lifestyle through a programme of fitness and wellness activities.

The wellness retreat is designed for those who already follow a regular exercise regime as well as those looking to elevate their fitness to the next level and aims to refuel a passion for health and fitness in a luxurious setting. Matt Roberts and Gleneagles’ on-site team of wellness experts will provide guests with the personalised support to make healthier choices and the inspiration to develop new ways of thinking about exercise.

Making the most of Gleneagles’ stunning rural location, the retreat will see Matt guiding guests on a hill trek, hosting a number of outdoor fitness sessions and introducing guests to basic meditation and mindfulness techniques. Each guest will also have the opportunity to relax with two personalised spa treatments and one ESPA Life treatment in the hotel’s award-winning Spa by ESPA.

“Gleneagles is a completely unique venue and the perfect location for a wellness retreat,” said Matt Roberts.

“For almost 100 years, guests have been coming here in the pursuit of relaxation, adventure and fun and have drawn inspiration from the breath-taking natural beauty of the surrounding countryside.

“The outdoor setting is perfect for learning about how exercise doesn’t always need to be about high-tech machines and equipment, but rather about using your own body to develop strength, flexibility and balance.

“I’m delighted to be working with the team at Gleneagles and the ESPA Life professionals to facilitate what will be a transformational event – the perfect starting point for anyone looking for a new, healthier direction in life in the most inspiring and luxurious setting you can imagine.”

Specially-crafted menus will complement the fitness programme, providing guests with healthy and delicious food choices over the three days, while Gleneagles’ resident naturopath Louise Westra will host a discussion on nutritional wellbeing.

“This retreat will be unique on many levels – giving guests access not only to one of the country’s leading personal trainers, but to Gleneagles’ highly skilled team of wellness practitioners,” said Louise Westra.

“Gleneagles’ glorious playground of country pursuits has been giving guests a reason to get out and enjoy the great outdoors for nearly a century.

“This wellness retreat is building on that tradition and, from the moment they arrive, guests will benefit from a truly motivational environment – the fresh Scottish air, the beautiful views, the sense of space and the feeling of being close to nature – that will beat the monotony of being stuck on a treadmill at a gym.

“Improved health cannot be achieved immediately through a weekend of intense exercise and healthy eating, but this retreat will start guests on a path to wellness, highlighting how health can be achieved for life through lifestyle choices and an all-round approach to health.”

The Matt Roberts Fitness Retreat at Gleneagles includes 2 nights’ accommodation in a Classic Room, all meals, two 55 minute spa treatments, one 80 minute ESPA Life wellness treatment, one trek, 11 fitness sessions and three mindfulness sessions.

Participants will have an early start on the first day and a late finish on the final day of the retreat, so an extended stay at the hotel is recommended – at a special rate of £265 per room per night, based on two people sharing a Classic room, subject to availability. Double occupancy pricing where only one person is participating is also available.
