Roger Dubuis has created another piece of art for the wrist, the new Excalibur Blacklight Monobalancier. The brand has launched it with three distinct labels: Hyper-luminescent, Hyper-colourful and Hyper-performing, prompting Jeremy Webb to take a closer look at what the new timepiece offers.

The Excalibur Blacklight Monobalancier has been created as a work of art by Roger Dubuis and has become one of the brightest expressions of the Maison to date, with its blazing aesthetics. The timepiece is just as vibrant by day as under UV light as the company welcomes you into their dazzling world. They want you to experience their watches in exciting new ways and live Hyper HorologyTM.

The Maison is constantly pushing boundaries, and their skilled watchmakers have been mastering and developing the intricate art of luminescence for years. Showcasing an unmatched level of craftsmanship, the metal micro-beams of the calibre are tri-dimensional. The first time, they match the shape of Roger Dubuis’ signature star. Bright orange and yellow by day, their hidden luminescence is revealed as they glow neon under UV light.

The watchmakers’ luminescence skill focuses on the microbeams’ brilliance, cleverly incorporating a vividly fluorescent diamond for the heart of the signature star. Your eye is channelled to admire the open work of the Excalibur Blacklight Monobalancier while under UV light.

The spotlight stays on the micro-beams, with sixty non-fluorescent diamonds specifically selected to adorn the bezel.

The house of Roger Dubuis unveils an iconic capsule collection blazing with on-trend colours and committing to non-conformity with a willingness to explore new creative possibilities. The Watchmakers have also moved beyond their love of light by injecting colours into this generation of Excalibur Blacklight Monobalancier.

The case is 42mm white gold, which is not overtly large and sits comfortably on the wrist, but it has a lot to showcase with the beautiful dial and stunning diamond adornments. Owners can choose a different strap with a few clicks to express a new style, as it is equipped with a hyper-versatile and quick-release system.

The Excalibur Blacklight Monobalancier is hand-finished with great care, and this has been rewarded by achieving the Poinçon de Genève, one of the most demanding certifications in Horology.

The calibre has improved performances, with an increased power reserve of 72 hours, thanks to a new geartrain toothing and escapement optimisation through its geometry. Better efficiency and energy transmission are achieved with the shape of the escapement wheel improved, and paired with diamond-coated silicon pallet stones, completed with new lube.

The Excalibur Blacklight MB is limited to twenty-eight pieces, the perfect blend of luminescence, advanced mechanics, and colour reaching new heights of expressivity. Roger Dubuis’ passion for light and luminescence focuses attention on Hyper Horology™, and the brand continues to shape the future of Horology in the most colourful way possible.

The Excalibur Blacklight Monobalancier is priced at £82,000 and is a colourful, stylish and innovative timepiece or, as Roger Dubuis says, Hyper HorologyTM.
