At the unveiling of the label for Château Mouton Rothschild 2021, illustrated by the Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota, Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA, in partnership with Christie’s, organised an exceptional online auction to benefit the Association Antoine Alléno.

The owners of Château Mouton Rothschild decided to combine the reveal of the label for the most recently bottled vintage of their wine with an exceptional online charity auction. The chosen beneficiary of the auction, which was organised in partnership with Christie’s, is the Association Antoine Alléno.

The charity auction lot comprised a unique assortment of different formats of Château Mouton Rothschild 2021, as well as an exclusive experience at the estate and an exceptional immersion in the world of multi-starred chef Yannick Alléno.

The name of the artist and the original artwork illustrating the Château Mouton Rothschild 2021 label were revealed on the 1st of December; “Universe of Mouton” created by the Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota thus features on the bottles of the lot put up for auction on Christie’s website.

The auction closed at 5.00 pm French time on Friday, the 8th of December, and the lot sold for €237,500.

The proceeds of the sale are going to the Association Antoine Alléno and will be used to set up and roll out a comprehensive support programme for the families of young victims of violence at the hands of a third party.

In addition, the programme will provide moral and practical support, including introductions to people in similar situations and to experts who can guide and help the families throughout their journey, not only in administrative, financial and legal procedures but also, above all, at a human level.

“One can only be deeply moved by the universal cause and human values that the charity upholds. Yannick Alléno is a good friend whom we hold in the highest regard, and we were keen to make a practical contribution to this admirable initiative.

We are proud to be taking part in the roll-out of a comprehensive support programme for young victims and their families.”Camille Sereys de Rothschild, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild – owners of Château Mouton Rothschild.

Yannick Alléno – President of the Association Antoine Alléno, said, “I should like to thank Camille Sereys de Rothschild, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild again for their great generosity and for this gift to the Association Antoine Alléno, which will support our actions in a practical way.

Every day since its inception, the Association receives stories from all over France recounting the loneliness that families face at a time when they are at their most fragile and vulnerable following the brutal loss of a child. Our priority is to help them and to support those who remain.”

The six bottles of Château Mouton Rothschild 2021 making up the charity lot comprised three magnums, a double magnum whosewas signed by Chiharu Shiota and the members of the family, and an imperial and the only Nebuchadnezzar available to date.

The winning bidder and three guests are also invited to the reveal of the label for Château Mouton Rothschild 2022, which will be held at the estate in 2024 and attended by the family and the artist chosen to illustrate the label for that vintage.

In addition, they will be given a private tour of Château Mouton Rothschild, followed by a tasting of wines from the estate.

Yannick Alléno, who holds fifteen Michelin stars, will also offer the acquirer and three guests an immersive experience at Le Pavillon Ledoyen, his celebrated restaurant in Paris, where they will help to prepare a service with the chef and his team.

They will then dine with Yannick Alléno, and a member of the family that owns Château Mouton Rothschild, with a menu specially designed to pair perfectly with the great vintages from the estate served during the meal.

Adam Bilbey, Christie’s – Global Head of Wine and Spirits, added, “Christie’s is elated to have partnered with the esteemed Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA in support of the Association Yannick Alléno’s noble cause.

This sale not only showcases one of the world’s most iconic wines but also serves as a celebration of the intricate tapestry synthesising artistry, history, and passion that defines the enduring and steadfast legacy of Château Mouton Rothschild. We are thrilled with the outstanding results achieved and proud to have played a role in this long-standing tradition.”
