In a single day, I found out that you can experience everything from rugged mountains and awe-inspiring sand dunes to beaches and ancient houses. This is a city where the sophistication of the 21st century walks hand in hand with the simplicity of a bygone era. But these contrasts give Dubai its unique flavour and personality, a cosmopolitan society with an international lifestyle.
I stayed at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel which was a truly luxurious and memorable experience. With its striking wave-like design, the award-winning five-star resort is one of Dubai’s most instantly recognisable structures. Located on a private beach facing the Arabian Gulf, it is equally famed for its amazing value and sheer wealth of options for an enjoyable stay.
The hotel offers access to a dazzling variety of family-friendly activities thanks to a variety of restaurants, cafes and bars and the onsite Pavilion Marina and Sports Club offers a range of recreation options from the Pavilion Dive Centre to three squash courts, six tennis courts, a gymnasium and fitness room.
All of the hotel’s 617 rooms, suites and villas are luxuriously furnished and provide spectacular views of the Arabian Gulf. My room boasted uninterrupted views of the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, the pristine beach and the clear blue seas of the Arabian Gulf from the floor to ceiling windows. It was 50 square meters of space and decor that evoked the elements of nature, creating an ambience that is calm and inviting. There was equally a lounge area, desk, sofa and a widescreen Interactive HD LCD TV.
The bathroom was just as pleasing and was equipped with a bath and a separate walk-in shower which included a wealth of bathroom amenities. Available to guests are cable/satellite television channels, air conditioning, a minibar, turndown service, bathrobes, complimentary toiletries and more. Complimentary Wi-Fi and cable broadband access in the room and around the resort was most welcomed as I was able to check information and keep up to date with all that was happening with the film festival, screenings, excursions, trips and a number of parties and events too.
