Leanne Kelsall embarked on a mission, to discover the best places to eat around Regent Street, for this review she experiences the Swiss vegan / vegetarian food concept, Tibits

In the late 1990s, three brothers from Switzerland, Christian, Daniel and Reto Frei had a simple idea, to create great tasting vegetarian food with fast service in a cosy environment.

Armed with a concept, but no first-hand experience they sought the advice of two of the most famous names in the vegetarian food industry, Marielle and Rolf Hiltl, owners of Zurich-based Haus Hiltl, the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world. Utilising their extensive experience, the Frei brothers evolved what was just an idea into their first restaurant in the year 2000 and the food concept became so successful that a further seven Tibits restaurants followed.
