Is the Augustinus Bader Skincare Range with TCF8 the Skin’s Holy Grail?

The Augustinus Bader Skincare product range

The quest for youthful, firmer and healthier skin has become the holy grail for many and a company helping people to reach these goals is Augustinus Bader Skincare. Ong Chin Huat wanted to learn the German skincare brand’s story, its patents and discoveries and what its products are designed to do.

The person behind the brand is Professor Augustinus Bader, an internationally recognised biomedical scientist and physician from Leipzig University and an expert in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. For more than three decades, Professor Bader has studied human cells and how they repair themselves and awaken after being dormant due to stress and trauma.

In 2008, the Professor developed an innovative gel that helps heal and repair severe skin trauma without surgery or skin grafts. This revolutionary discovery became the catalyst for Augustinus Bader’s skincare line.

The special ingredient was the patented TFC8 (Trigger Factor Complex), which delves into stem cell biology, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. On the back of this, Augustinus Bader created two skincare products, The Cream and The Rich Cream (above), which contain TFC8 to boost the skin’s natural ability to renew and regenerate itself.

What does TFC8 contain?
It is made up of natural amino acids, high-grade vitamins and synthesised molecules found naturally in the skin. It works by nourishing and protecting the skin by supporting the skin’s natural ability for renewal.

Completely free of parabens, SLS, SLES, DEA, heavy metals, talc, petrolatum, paraffin and mineral oils, Augustinus Bader skin care does not contain unnecessary preservative solvents or emulsifiers.

“Every single one of us is made up of trillions of cells working in unison, orchestrated by a genetic code driving every instinct, thought, feeling… and the incredible, innate capacity to heal. From skincare to clinical practice to biotech research, all our advances are grounded in a belief that the body is its own best therapist.” – Augustinus Bader.

One of the star products in Augustinus Bader’s skincare range is the intensely luxurious and hydrating daily moisturiser, The Rich Cream. Apart from the patented ingredient TFC8, the Rich Cream also contains Evening Primrose Oil with linoleic acid, Squalene and Vitamin E. Its benefits include reducing the signs of ageing like fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

Deeply hydrating to help relieve dry skin, this cream promotes elasticity and supports skin barrier function to produce supple, plump and smooth skin. With TFC8 supporting cellular renewal, it also protects the skin from environmental damage and oxidative stress.

In a 12-week Consumer Perception Study of 105 participants, the User Trial Results showed that 97% agreed that skin tone and texture looked dramatically transformed. In addition, 96% agreed skin looked firmer, lifted and felt more supple and elastic, while 95%t agreed the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles was dramatically reduced.

Similarly, a four-week clinical trial of 30 participants in the UK showed that skin was 145.9% more hydrated after four weeks, while crow’s feet wrinkles were visibly reduced by 55% over four weeks, and skin felt firmer 93% after four weeks.

Another product from Augustinus Bader that has earned praise among skincare fanatics is The Essence, a multi-tasking and fast-absorbing product that streamlines all the post-cleanse needs in one smart formulation.

Containing TFC8 and Phytic Acid, a natural exfoliator derived from rice grains that promotes cell turnover and boosts collagen production for an even skin tone and fewer fine lines; it also contains Salicylic Acid, which is derived from willow bark and helps reduce redness and boost clarity.

Gluconolactone, a naturally derived poly-hydroxy acid, optimises skin renewal, while Hyaluronic Acid attracts and retains moisture. Wasabi Ferment is a skin superfood which delivers potent antioxidant protection against free radical damage. The result is smoother, softer, more vibrant and glowing skin without the appearance of pores.
