Kiyoka By Chef Asuka Matsubara Unveils New Seasonal Sakura Pastry Collection

Kiyoka By Chef Asuka Matsubara Unveils Seasonal Sakura Specials

The Japanese-French pastry shop Kiyoka dreamed up by Kyoto-born chef pâtissière Asuka Matsubara, has unveiled a new pastry collection inspired by Japan’s magical season of cherry blossoms.

The new specials are characterised by blooming shades of white and pink that start from the southwestern island of Kyushu to the northernmost region of Hokkaido. Japan’s sakura is known worldwide for its delicate and transient beauty.

Adding to their mystique, sakura is usually in full bloom for only a week before the petals float gracefully to the ground.

Located on the third floor of The Landmark, Kiyoka has made waves for its elegantly crafted confections rooted in a classical French patisserie whilst paying homage to its Japanese origins in both style and aesthetic. From now until 29th April, Kiyoka brings Japan’s most iconic symbol of nature, the sakura, to Hong Kong.

Japan’s most stunning spring spectacle is the inspiration for the new desserts and includes the Sakura Macaron (HK$200 per box of 8 pieces) that features delicate and romantically coloured meringue shells and a raspberry filling mixed with chopped sakura leaves, combining the fruity and floral aromas of spring.

Sakura Roll Cake (HK$430) allows guests to travel to Japan through their taste buds. It is made from edible Japanese sakura powder of superior quality mixed into the dough and gently baked to perfection.

Each fluffy roll is filled with fresh Japanese strawberries and sakura cream and is garnished with salted sakura flowers.

For the combined Sakura Set (HK$590), inclusive of both a Sakura Roll Cake and a box of Sakura Macaron, be sure to pre-order at least three days in advance.
