KONE DX Elevators Achieves Greater Heights with Four Red Dot Awards

KONE Corporation, a leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won four awards for its DX Class elevators in the renowned Red Dot Award: Product Design 2020 competition.

If there’s one company, who specialises in rising to the top its the KONE Corporation. Their DX Class elevator interior collection and DX Class digital experience elevator concept were acknowledged for their outstanding design features, innovativeness and smart elements with a hatful of Ret Dot Awards.

Launched in 2019, the KONE DX Class is the world’s first digital elevator series. It has built-in connectivity as standard and is a perfect combination of design, technology, new materials, apps and services. Also, the elevators are made in such a way; they’re anti-stain, anti-scratch, and importantly with what’s going on in the world, anti-bacterial.

In addition to the above, the elevators also boast impressive environmentally-friendly credentials meeting green building criteria like BREEAM and LEED.

“We are thrilled and honoured to have received these esteemed awards for our new KONE DX Class elevators,” says Visa Rauta, head of KONE Design.

“The whole offering was developed in close collaboration with our customers around the globe, resulting in a collection that is set to bring meaningful experiences and well-being for people in urban environments. With sustainable and innovative materials, the KONE DX Class allows the creation of personalised, eye-catching and safe elevator experiences for any building and contributes to making cities better places to live in.”

The Red Dot Design Award dates back to 1955 and today, it is one of the world’s largest and most recognised design competitions with more than 18,000 entries. The competition is broken down into three areas: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. In 2020, designers and companies from 60 countries put forward more than 6,500 products for consideration, the most ever entered in a single year.

When judging the products, the jury assessed not only the aesthetics but also the materials selected, the level of craftsmanship, the surface structure, ergonomics and functionality. This year the competition also introduced two new meta categories – Innovative Products and Smart Products – and KONE DX Class elevators picked up awards in both.
