New Luxury Mirrored Pods Open at Lindis in New Zealand

The team at New Zealand In Depth has announced the launch of the new luxury Lindis Pods which seamlessly blend into the wilderness of the Ahuriri Valley, North Otago due to their crisp seamless mirrored finish making it all but invisible to passers-by.

The Lindis Pods are located on the 2428-hectare Ben Avon Station and are surrounded by conservation parks, mountains and beech forest. The Pods are a short walk from the main lodge and benefit from 180-degree uninterrupted views of the mountains and night skies.

“The mirrored finish takes the pod and all but makes it disappear as it reflects the surrounding skies, maintains, and tussocked hills, yet from the inside the one-way glass provides a spectacular view that makes the most of the lodges unique location,” says Sally Lilley, Director at New Zealand In Depth.

The Pods were designed by architect Noel Martin. Each pod features a king-sized bed, an en-suite bathroom, outdoor gas-heated tubs and private decks, plus all of the lodge’s renowned world-class eco-amenities.

Inside the pods are finished with a wall of one-way glass and dark woods. More wood compliments the black marble sink in the bathroom and another wall of one-way glass continues the connection with the wilderness outside.

Sally Lilley adds; “The double-glazed mirrored glass walls on three sides give guests not only privacy and unspoiled views, but also make it cosy in winter and cool in summer; a perfect year-round experience, whatever the weather.”

The new Lindis pods have been created using the same sustainable design principles as the main lodge. An onsite backup generator, efficient LPG boilers, geothermal heat pumps, rainwater harvesting systems and state of the art insulation are just a few of the features that make the perfect eco escape.

“With three pods onsite catering for up to two guests in each, Lindis has added room for another six guests to enjoy its spectacular valley whether taking over the whole lodge exclusively, or just one of the pods as a private get-away,” added Paul Carberry. “Combine this with the wide range of activities from fly fishing and walking, to horse riding or e-biking; the world-class cuisine and breath-taking setting – this is a new highlight luxury travel experience in New Zealand.”
