The myFirst Fone R1 is a Tech-laden Device Every Young Child Should Have

Those clever minds in Singapore have done it again with the myFirst Fone R1. It is an amazing tech-laden device offering more than enough to convince parents who try to keep their children away from tech-overload that they should not leave the house without one.

From time to time, news of a product reaches our desks, and it makes us say “Wow! What a good idea.” This happened just this week, and the product in question is the myFirst Fone R1. If you didn’t read the title and you’re not sure what it is, don’t worry as during this article we’ll be explaining precisely what it does and the benefits it offers to both you and your children.

As much as many of us try to ignore how dangerous the world can be, we have to face facts and admit it is. We never like to state the obvious but knowing where your children are and keeping in contact with them is vital in this day and age. And this is particularly important if they’re fans of playing outdoors.

The Singapore kids tech company myFirst understands this and have created the Fone R1, a product that in our eyes, every child of a certain age should be wearing.

What is the myFirst Fone R1?
The myFirst Fone R1 is basically a high-tech 4G LTE video watch phone for children; we use the word basically as it’s capability extends much further than this.

The phone uses cellular networks which enable parents and children to converse in real-time through voice and video just like with a regular mobile phone. The 1.3″ TFT screen is also very clear, which should result in more than adequate image quality during video calls. The manufacturer states the myFirst Fone R1 can last for six hours in talk mode and has Wi-Fi, GPS, A-GPS capability and is compatible with both Android 4.3 and iOS 7.0 and above.

In addition to all the connectivity, the data is SSL encrypted which means complete privacy. There is a nano sim slot on the side of the watch, and this is where you’ll need to put the sim card to enable it to operate as a phone.

Another nice feature of the myFirst Fone R1 is it can only be contacted via authorised numbers which can be set in the myFirst Fone App. This eliminates the worry about misdialled numbers. Geographic boundaries can also be set, which will result in a warning being sent to a parents phone if the child leaves your set designated area. This is done via geofencing, and in addition to this safety feature, the phone also has a one-touch SOS button which will send a distress signal to the parents’ phone.

The myFirst Fone R1 is not only handy when it comes to security; it can also be a lot of fun too. The Fone has a in-built MP3 player and a loudspeaker which is great for listening to music, audiobooks or a reminder message from Mum, Dad or both. It also has a pedometer which lets you see how much exercise your child is getting. Another nice feature is the 2mp camera lens and 4GB memory allowing your child to take photographs to their heart’s content.

The best person to explain the benefits of the myFirst Fone R1 is G-Jay Yong, the brand’s founder. Here’s what he had to say; “Since the first launched of myFirst Fone in 2016, we have received a lot of feedback and suggestions from parents on how to improve our myFirst Fone. This year, we are proud to launch one of the best smartwatch phones in the market for the next-gen kids.

We’ve combined the traditional round shape watch design with the most wanted features like music, digital camera, fitness tracker and 4G connectivity to allow the parents and kids stay connected especially with video calls even whilst on the move. When kids pair the R1 Smart Watchphone with our open-ear Headphones BC Wireless, they can enjoy music while still be aware of environmental sounds. R1 and BC Wireless are the best on the move entertainment and communication combo for kids ever. We believe all kids will love them.”

In addition to the myFirst Fone R1, the brand has also launched myFirst Headphones BC Wireless.

The headphones benefit from an open-ear design and are made of titanium covered with soft rubber. It is extremely lightweight weighing in at only 26 grams and has a flexible ear hook making it comfortable when being worn for longer periods. It is also IPX6 sweat and water-resistant making it ideal for those over-exuberant outdoor activities.

The myFirst Fone R1 is a Tech-laden Device Every Young Child Should Have 3

In combination, the myFirst Fone R1 and the wireless headphones should help to put parents minds at ease. The ability to contact and see your child whenever you want is hugely important, and the geo-fencing capability allows you to see exactly where your child is at all times. Just as important, the watch will be fun and educational for children.

The bright colours will prove attractive alongside the ability to change screen graphics. And with its chunky design and the liberal amount of a rubberised coating, it looks capable of taking a decent amount of playtime bashing.

With the festive season rapidly approaching and the possibility of some schools closing, kids could be spending more time playing outdoors. This piece of cutting-edge technology is ideal and it’s hard to think of a better product that both parents and children will appreciate equally.
