Ras Al Khaimah’s New Year’s Eve Show Set Two New World Records

Ras Al Khaimah Welcomes 2024 with World Records at its New Year's Eve Show

Two new world records have been set at Ras Al Khaimah’s spectacular eight-minute New Year’s Eve extravaganza, which involved more than 1000 drones, fireworks, acrobatic pyro planes and floating aquatic pyrotechnics.

When it comes to welcoming in the New Year, there are few, if any, places that do it in a more spectacular way than Ras Al Khaimah. Each year, for its New Year’s Eve show, the Emirate pulls out all the stops to create an incredible showcase that continues to push the bar higher.

To bid goodbye to 2023 and welcome 2024, Ras Al Khaimah put on an incredible eight-minute firework and drone display, producing two new world records along a 4.5km stretch of the Ras Al Khaimah waterfront.

Ras Al Khaimah is no stranger when it comes to world records. The Emirate’s New Year’s Eve shows have previously set several GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™, and few doubted it would add to this at its 2023/2024 show.

The two new world records set by the Emirate were the ‘Longest chain of aquatic floating fireworks,’ which extended to a mind-boggling 5.8km and the record for the ‘Longest straight-line drones display’, which went on for 2km.

Upping the ante on previous years seems to be far from a daunting task for Ras Al Khaimah. For its 2023/2024 New Year’s Eve show, it opted to use some innovative techniques which had never been attempted previously.

To produce the most spectacular show possible, the Emirate combined a ‘carpet’ of aquatic floating fireworks, 1,050 LED drones and acrobatic pyro planes, which were all inspired by the desert, the sea and the mountains, choreographed to specially composed music.

Raki Phillips, the Chief Executive Officer of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, said of the world-record-setting celebration, “Breaking two more GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ titles has set the stage for an unforgettable night of celebration bringing together thousands of visitors and residents.

As we kick off the new year, 2023 has been an exceptional year for tourism in Ras Al Khaimah with numerous achievements and the highest ever annual number of visitors recorded, propelling the Nature Emirate further in attracting over 3 million annual visitors by 2030.”

More than 50,000 people were on hand to witness the spectacular showcase, which has made it the most visited show to date and hotels across the Emirate were fully booked.

The event, which was created to unite the entire community, provided a range of activities for families, multiple areas from which the public could witness the display, alongside food trucks and first-class live entertainment.

Adding to the entertainment was Soundfest, a ticketed event featuring live bands from around the world who helped revellers welcome 2023 in a unique way.

The New Year’s Eve Organising Committee was led by the Emirates Tourism Development Authority and involved teams from Marjan, the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce, the Police Department, and Government Media Office, Public Works, Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, Al Hamra, and many others.
