Affordable Art Fair Battersea Spring marks the first UK fair in its 25th Anniversary year with the best in contemporary, affordable art from the UK and beyond.
Affordable Art Fair is delighted to announce the complete list of galleries exhibiting at its major spring edition, coming to London’s Battersea Park 6 – 10 March 2024 (Private View on Wednesday 6 March).
For the first UK fair in their 25th Anniversary year, visitors can expect a stunning range of contemporary art from an impressive roster of UK-based and international galleries, with an exhibitor line-up of 113 galleries and 1,000s of artworks to be discovered, priced from £50 – £7,500.
‘Art is in the air’ this spring with exciting new works which transport us to the skies, including lenticular artworks inspired by cloud formations by campaign artist Lawrie Hutcheon and a monumental installation titled Flight by Alejandro Propato (below), which will be suspended in the Fair’s entrance hall.
In addition, there will be a special exhibition celebrating International Women’s Day and Art After Dark Lates will be given a new twist to mark the occasion with complimentary drinks and live DJs.
Affordable Art Fair, Battersea Spring is the perfect destination to fall in love with art, whether visitors are looking to buy their first piece, freshen up their home, or simply enjoy a lovely day out in one of London’s most beautiful locations.
25th Anniversary
Affordable Art Fair celebrates 25 years of democratising the art world, from 1999 – 2024.
To mark this special year, the fair will be launching a range of initiatives, including a limited edition print for sale depicting the gardens of Battersea Park, the Fair’s first home, by bestselling artist Nadia Attura, as well as special installations and opportunities for its community of art lovers to get involved, with much more to be announced.
The fair will be gearing up for its major autumn edition in October, which marks 25 years since the first-ever Affordable Art Fair in 1999.
Fresh Art this Spring
There are hundreds of fresh artworks to discover, with nine new galleries making their debut at Affordable Art Fair Battersea Spring, including:
- Esteemed London-based galleries McKay Williamson, Art Gazette, and Synergy Fine Art, whose dynamic portfolios include a mix of cutting-edge emerging and established artists
- Ramsgate-based Kingsford Gallery showcasing innovative new textile art by Shelly Goldsmith and Jessie Cuts
- Hong Kong-based Art Actually and Art Current Gallery represent artists who fuse Eastern tradition with Western aesthetics, including Terence Two (Art Actually), who has gained international admiration for his abstract ink paintings, and Sindy Lau (Art Current Gallery), who offers unique perspectives of Hong Kong.
- justBEE Galerie from Masevaux (Northern France), whose roster of artists includes internationally recognised Karima Duchamp and cutting-edge sculptors Livia de Poli and Joachim Roederer.
- Singapore-based Olive Gallery will be showcasing work by notable artist Smrita Swarup.
- Toxic Arts, who champion the next generation of contemporary street artists.
International Galleries
Showcasing an incredible range of local, national, and international exhibitors, Affordable Art Fair Battersea Spring offers visitors an unmissable opportunity to buy the best affordable art from around the world.
This edition, the Fair will welcome 30 international galleries, with representation from 16 countries, and an impressive cohort of European galleries, including:
- Pigment Gallery (Barcelona) represents a stunning variety of artists specialising in modern figurative to abstract art.
- Photography specialists ADM Photo (Netherlands) with remarkable Astro-photographs by Anna Dobrovolskaya-Mints.
- Visus Gallery from Lasne (Belgium) represents a brilliant variety of minimalist painters and sculptors.
- Al Contar del Arte (Spain) combines different types of artistic expression, such as visual arts and literature, within the same context.
- ARTITLEDcontemporary (Netherlands) is bringing an impressive portfolio of stunning photography.
- Envie d’Art Gallery (Paris) will showcase an eclectic selection of photographs, paintings, and sculptures.
Campaign Artist: Lawrie Hutcheon
Affordable Art Fair is thrilled to announce that Lawrie Hutcheon’s dreamy lenticular ‘Cumuloform 1’ is the star of Affordable Art Fair Battersea Spring’s campaign. Lawrie is a self-taught, lenticular artist known for his vivid, dream-like artworks.
He often focuses on pieces exploring metaphysical concepts like time and space and enjoys experimenting with colour combinations, saying: “I find playing with colour combinations exceptionally challenging, rewarding, and slightly addictive.” Lawrie is represented by TAG Fine Arts.
New Installation: Alejandro Propato
Alejandro Propato is a sculptor and architect from Argentina, currently based in Buenos Aires. He trained as an architect at the University of Buenos Aires, where he later served as a professor of Architecture from 1995 to 2000.
Propato has since developed his architectural practice and skills for space designing, executing a variety of monumental site-specific installations, often inspired by nature.
He identifies public, urban, and green spaces as powerful sources of inspiration for him, highlighting “the harmony of human beings with nature.” At Affordable Art Fair Battersea Spring, Propato will be unveiling a brand-new installation elevated from the ground, linking with the fair theme ‘Art is in the Air’ and giving visitors a majestic welcome.
International Women’s Day
The Fair’s popular Art After Dark Lates will be returning on Thursday and Friday with a special twist to mark International Women’s Day (8 March).
Championing female artists, the event will spotlight female DJs, and there will be a special exhibition showcasing artwork by female artists, with more details to be unveiled.
