The Ball Watch Company Launches 'Adopt a Reef' Campaign in Sabah, Malaysia

The Ball Watch Company has launched its Adopt-a-Reef Campaign in Lankayan Island, Sabah, Malaysia, to support marine conservation. It has also unveiled a limited edition watch to coincide with the campaign, marking its commitment to the world’s oceans.

Saving the oceans and all sentient living organisms within it has been a prevalent and worthwhile cause of late, not to mention it also being of the utmost urgency.

The watch company is well-known for its commitment to marine conservation. It has affirmed it by partnering with Reef Guardians on a campaign called Adopt-A-Reef which supports marine conservation and research within the Sugud Islands Marine Conservation Area in Sabah, Malaysia.

To reaffirm its commitment to cleaning up and protecting the oceans, the Swiss watch company has debuted a special edition watch named Engineer Master II Diver Chronometer Reefs, which is limited to 143 pieces, the number reflecting the 143 species of sharks worldwide listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List of Threatened Species.

The new timepiece has a unique feature on its dial, a shark and a reef, which acts as a constant reminder of these threatened and endangered forms of marine life. It is also a reminder that our oceans’ habitat needs protection from various threats, such as illegal fishing, global warming, unsustainable development and plastic pollution.

This limited edition watch represents Ball Watch Malaysia’s pledge to support marine environmental preservation and reduce the harm and threats to the ocean and its inhabitants. The symbol of the shark and reef on the dial represents balance, amity, intrepid and light; it’s a symbol of hope that there is light in every turn of the great and passionate efforts of humankind in preserving mother nature.

The 42 mm stainless steel Engineer Master II Diver Chronometer Reefs Special Edition has a thickness of only 13.5 mm and comes with an attractive blue dial and either a stainless steel bracelet or rubber strap. It showcases hours, minutes, sweep seconds and a magnified date. Water resistant to 30 metres, it has an automatic calibre and a bi-rotational sapphire inner bezel with micro gas tubes for night reading capability.

About Ball Watch Company
The Ball Watch Company has been a pioneer and noted manufacturer of high-quality and precise timepieces since 1891. The company was founded when a tragic accident occurred in Kipton, Ohio, back in 1891 with a head-on train collision, and as a result, the American railroad company appointed Webster Clay Ball, the Chief Time Inspector, to supervise newly synchronized timing protocols to avoid another disaster.

The new standardized railroad time started the popular “Be on the Ball” proverb and inspired the future Swiss Society of Chronometry, which governs the highest watch timing certification standards today.
