The Beosound Emerge Speaker By Bang & Olufsen and Designer Benjamin Hubert

Bang & Olufsen have unveiled a new home speaker called the Beosound Emerge, which is sure to delight audiophiles and design fans alike. This slim and powerful speaker that resembles an upright book was created in collaboration with the renowned British-based designer Benjamin Hubert from the LAYER design agency.

When you hear the name Bang & Olufsen, you instantly think of the words design and quality. If you factor in the experienced mind of someone such as the London-based designer Benjamin Hubert, you know that you’re going to see something beautiful, and this can be seen with the Beosound Emerge.

The Beosound Emerge Speaker was created by and for those with a passion for music, design and craftsmanship. It is a home speaker with a slim silhouette that is said to deliver a rich and powerful sound experience and is suitable for any space in the home.

The speaker is said to be suitable for anywhere in home

The words form and function spring to mind when you see one. Inside you have extraordinary technical performance, and externally it is a thing of beauty to be admired.

The Beosound Emerge is the second Bang & Olufsen product created in collaboration with Benjamin Hubert. It follows the incredibly successful first outing, called the Beosound Balance. As with Beosound Balance, the design of Beosound Emerge is quite unique.

Benjamin said, “As a studio, we like to build long-term partnerships with the brands we work with. The super-slim speaker has been designed to minimise the physical footprint and maximise the audio output as a response to the real estate in people’s homes being at an unprecedented premium.

At LAYER, we believe that technology should enable happiness but doesn’t necessarily need to be an expression in its own right, so it was equally important for us to create a new architectural format with a strong sculptural sensibility and a more domestic material palette that will stand out in the saturated audio market while seamlessly fitting into the home.”

As many of you have no doubt seen from the images within this article, the Beosound Emerge takes its inspiration from the compact form factor of a book.

It has been designed to extend sound within the home while taking up hardly any space. When displayed in its own right, it is a thing of beauty. However, its small form factor means that it can also be integrated alongside books or other domestic objects.

The design utilises tactile and warm materials, which were inspired by high-end residential interiors. The gold-tone version of the Emerge speaker features an oak wood cover that wraps around woven Kvadrat textile along its spine. It also has pearl-blasted aluminium accents, which are anodised in a gold-tone.

If gold is not your first choice of colour, don’t worry. You can also specify the cover of the speaker in a high-grade Anthracite finish with a pearl-blasted grill. The speaker’s side panels are made from polymer and feature a corrugated vertical pattern that helps to accentuate its slim lines.

The side panels wrap around the speaker like the cover of a book, while the front of the speaker is marked with Bang & Olufsen’s logo in the same way the spine of a book features the author’s name.

The life-span of Bang & Olufsen’s Products
No one wants to spend money and then find their product has become out of date. This is particularly evident for many people who’ve purchase flagship, mobile phone models and in some case, products which are far more expensive. Band & Olufsen have addressed this, which will come as excellent news for those interested in purchasing a Beosound Emerge.

The speaker has been modularly designed and provides access to Bang & Olufsen’s new replaceable connectivity module first-seen earlier this year in the Beosound Level.

The module has been front-loaded with enough processing power and connectivity technology to receive new performance updates and features for years to come. If the connectivity and streaming technology ever becomes outdated, the module can be replaced with the latest technology updates, future-proofing the speaker.

Beosound Emerge Pricing and Availablity

The Beosound Emerge in the Gold Tone has an RRP of €749/£669/$899. For the Black Anthracite version, the price is €599/£539/$699. The speakers are available now and can be ordered via Bang & Olufsen stores and online in selected markets.

Global availability is scheduled to start from Autumn 2021.
