Award-winning fashion designer Stephen Arthur officially opened DWL’s flagship watch store in Mayfair’s Burlington Arcade and launched a partnership between the two high-end brands.
Stephen’s monochrome, tailored designs were being sold by John Lewis when he was just 22. Global celebrities such as Kanye West, Pharrell and Lizzo have worn his garments, and he featured in Burberry’s prespring collection this year.
Danny Shahid, the luxury watch expert behind DWL, was the first to combine his love of fashion with watches on Instagram, and he now has nearly 90,000 followers. Danny sources rare timepieces from thousands of global contacts for high profile clients, including C-suite large fashion house directors and international footballers.
Both Danny and Stephen are passionate about giving young people a helping hand into the world of work. Danny grew up in one of the most deprived towns in the country and saw moving to London at the age of 15 as a major turning point in his life.
His path to the Burlington Arcade began when his uncle shared his knowledge about luxury watches.
Stephen Arthur, who has helped more than 300 students find careers in the creative sector, said, “Danny is living proof that young people should not be restricted by their start in life, and we both want to drive home the message that anything is possible if you are talented and put the work in.
DWL has committed funds towards collaborating with Slenky, a platform that has helped me and countless other young people take advantage of unique opportunities with relevant businesses.”
Slenky CEO Cec Richards added: “Stephen and Danny are inspirational role models who show what can be achieved by young people who explore their passions and follow their interests, and they also share the desire to give something back.
We work directly with organisations of all types to create attractive, real-world opportunities while also helping businesses to engage with diverse young audiences across the UK.”
DWL has made a donation to Birmingham Says No to Knife Crime, a charity supported by Stephen Arthur.
