The Clay Detox-Therapy treatment at Hotel das Cataratas truly reflects the culture and diversity of Brazil’s Iguassu national park. It begins with a full body scrub to kick start circulation and remove dead skin cells. A green clay, comprised of organic material such as decomposed plants and seaweed, and which is sourced from the Amazon, is then combined with antioxidising crushed red grapes and applied to the skin. The minerals found in this special Amazonian green clay have vast anti aging and healing benefits, improving elasticity and leaving the skin glowing. At the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town, the Librisa Spa has devised a fabulous new manicure treatment for ladies who want to give their hands a well deserved pampering session. The African Potato Manicure starts off with an intense mask using local antioxidant-rich ingredients such as Merula oil derived from the African Potato, Rooibos and Aloe Vera which is slathered onto hands to build strength and replenish hydration. Due to its nourishing effects, the African Potato has the ability to heal eczema, and is used to treat sore and sun burnt skin.
