GM Architects renovates the Myconian Ambassador

The Lebanese architecture firm have designed a contemporary and luxurious space

The Myconian Ambassador is a luxury hotel located in Mykonos, Greece one of the few high-range establishments of the Cyclades region selected by the guide Relais & Chateaux for its quality of welcome and its unique setting. GM Architects was chosen to refurbish its suites, 69 rooms, as well as the communal areas of this exceptional place. Renovation work is expected to finish by June 2015.

In line with its approach of “contextual immersion”, Galal Mahmoud was inspired by the Cyclades Islands, their history, the local culture and has reinterpreted through contemporary aesthetics the Greek cultural references in a refined and serene style. The use of noble materials, such as marble of Tassos or exotic hardwood, has enabled Galal Mahmoud a broad freedom of expression in the reinterpretation of traditional Greek architecture.

The accents of royal blue in the decoration of the rooms and shared spaces have a freshness in contrast with the universal whiteness. However, the notion of luxury is not the only consideration in the choices, there is the marriage of materials and above all there is the organisation of the space with a circulation of air and light as with the open shower on the famous Platis Yialo beach, which brings an exquisite quality to the everyday.
