The JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative to empower and uplift local girls from Maasai communities this September. The Lodge’s Apprenticeship Program offers a transformative opportunity for young women to gain comprehensive training in all lodge departments, preparing them for successful careers in the hospitality industry.
In this modern world, I doubt many will disagree that there is too much taking and not enough giving, and changing the balance requires a lot of hard work. JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge is doing its best to swing the pendulum, and one way it is doing it is via an Apprenticeship Program.
The vision for the program is to foster gender equality and create a pipeline of skilled female professionals in the hospitality sector. By engaging with the local community, the lodge will aim to provide opportunities for personal and professional growth, ultimately empowering these girls to become leaders within their communities.
The Apprenticeship Program will span an immersive duration between 6 – 10 months, encompassing hands-on training in every department within the lodge. Participants will rotate through departments such as front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, kitchen and guest services. By experiencing the breadth of lodge operations, apprentices will gain a holistic understanding of the industry and build a versatile skill set.
Throughout the program, each apprentice will be paired with a mentor, a seasoned professional from the lodge, who guides and supports them in their learning journey. Regular feedback sessions and performance assessments will help tailor the apprentices’ development, ensuring they receive the best possible preparation for their future careers.
Upon successful completion of the program, each apprentice will receive a recognized certificate that acknowledges their comprehensive training and competence in the hospitality industry. Armed with their newfound skills and certification, the lodge will continue to actively seek to employ these graduates, ensuring a rewarding career path within the lodge or the broader hospitality sector.
JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge’s Apprenticeship Program will stand as a beacon of hope and progress, empowering local girls and transforming their lives through education and training.
