Immerse Yourself in Secluded Arctic Sweden on a Brand New Floating Lodge

If you want to head somewhere, you can relax and unwind whilst enjoying nature’s beauty and breathing super-fresh air away from the hustle and bustle; we know the ideal place. Thanks to Off the Map Travel, you can rediscover yourself in the stunning Swedish wilderness on a fully equipped floating lodge, which is only accessible by boat.

Set atop the stunning Lake Degerselet, just south of the Arctic Circle; the floating raft accommodation is perfect for those seeking luxury and adventure this season. Launched this week by adventure artists Off the Map Travel, the three-night Floating Safari Camp itinerary is an off-grid experience like no other and is the only accommodation of its kind in Sweden.

Guests can enjoy water sports, including canoeing and paddle-boarding, as well as try their hand at fishing. It’s also the perfect spot for some wild swimming. Off the Map Travel has included an exclusive BBQ via sunset on a secluded island as part of this trip. This is an experience for those looking to kick back, relax and switch off for a while.

Pouring a row of drinks from the floating lodgeTwo safari-style tents sit atop the anchored floating raft, and there is a separate twin room, enabling up to six guests to stay at one time. All rooms are decorated in traditional Scandi style and have seating areas with incredible views across the water. There is also a wood-fired sauna on the raft alongside a toilet and shower facilities.

A tour guide will show all guests how to use the sports equipment that is ready at the raft upon arrival.

“Modern life can be stressful, and it’s hard to find time to completely switch off and unwind, especially in beautiful surroundings,” says Alex Minnis, COO of Off the Map Travel.

“But the floating lodge is the perfect place to be able to do that as it is secluded yet surrounded by incredible scenery that really will take your breath away.

“Sweden in the summertime has some of the most glorious natural landscapes in the world and, despite its Arctic location, lake temperatures at the lodge reach a balmy 18-25 degrees Celsius – perfect for enjoying water sports and an invigorating swim.”

The escape can be booked from June to September. Guests will be met by a private guide at Luleå Airport, who will accompany them on a boat transfer to the Floating Safari Camp itself.

Access the sauna before a 4-course dinner cooked by a private chef who is also on hand as a personal guide throughout each stay.

On day two, both breakfast and lunch will be provided by the personal chef, and then there are several activities to choose from.

Canoes, kayaks and paddle boards are all available for guests to use, alongside fishing equipment. Bask in the sun, immerse yourself in the sounds of nature and indulge in the peace and tranquillity of this stunning location.

That evening, enjoy a sunset boat trip to a private island for an exclusive BBQ dinner cooked again by a private chef.

To end the trip, guests will take a canoe transfer to the Aurora Safari Camp, where they will be welcomed with lunch and a glass of fizz.

There is a secluded forest sauna to relax in and woods to explore before a 4-course dinner and a night of star gazing on the Rane River.

The four-day, three-night Floating Safari Camp itinerary costs £2199 per person, on a full board basis, based on two people travelling, not including flights.

Travellers also have the option to go self-catered for a reduced fee, with plenty of local shops to stock up in before boarding the lodge, which has a full kitchen.

Food being cooked in the forest

As with any itinerary from Off the Map Travel, each can be tailor-made to fit the wishes and requirements of the guest. This itinerary includes two nights in the floating safari camp and one night at the Aurora Safari Camp, private transfers, all activities and all meals.
