Sleep Under the Northern Lights in a Luxury Glass Lodge in Norway

If you’ve ever dreamed of jetting off to experience the northern lights, there is no better time to go. And now you can do just that whilst sleeping in a bespoke king-sized Aurora bed inside a brand new luxury glass ‘box’ in Norway.

The northern lights, or Aurora Borealis, are caused by solar storms that send charged particles from the sun. It goes through an 11-year cycle where it becomes more active (the solar maximum) and less active (the solar minimum).

This winter, we are at the peak of the Sun’s activity, meaning bigger, more frequent solar storms and more beautiful northern lights for us! Therefore, the northern lights tourism industry is booming, with holidaymakers wanting to get the best view of earth’s most spectacular natural light show.

Travel experts at Off the Map Travel have uncovered a new glass lodge, allowing guests to sleep in an Aurora bed under the northern lights.

Set in a remote corner of the wilderness, a little north of Tromso and over 200 miles above the Arctic Circle, the two new Aeranord glass lodges provide uninterrupted views of the arctic night sky. The clean, contemporary, Scandinavian design of the new panorama lodge uses local natural materials to ground it with the wilderness outside.

“This is a new experience that delivers adventure but doesn’t compromise on comfort and quality,” says Jonny Cooper, founder of Off the Map Travel, which is exclusively arranging trips to the new glass lodges.

“The generous custom-made king-sized Aurora bed is wrapped in glass on the walls and roof, allowing you to lie back and hunt for the northern lights.

“Added to this is a luxury bathroom complete with rain shower, kitchenette and dining area, all benefiting from similar uninterrupted views out into the arctic wilderness, and you’re sure not to miss a moment of the Northern lights as they shine overhead.”

The lodge is designed for couples wanting to combine luxury with an immersive arctic experience and is available from December to March for the height of the Northern Lights season, opening to their first visitors in November 2023. Further details of spring and summer availability will be revealed in due course.

The team at Off the Map Travel has combined the new lodge with private tours and transfers by Tesla and other exciting environmentally-conscious activities to create a complete experience.

The new six-day, five-night Luxury in Tromso itinerary costs from £4999 per person, on a mixed board basis, based on four adults travelling, not including flights.

This includes privately guided tours in a Tesla, two nights in luxury panoramic accommodation, three nights private, luxury apartment accommodation in Tromso with a private breakfast chef, a private northern lights tour with a dinner reservation, a private Tromso island tour, a snowshoe experience, a husky sledging adventure and King Crab dinner.
