Shangri-La Partners with plaay? to Create Sustainable Toys for Make-a-Wish

The luxury hotel group Shangri-La has announced it has started collaborating with sustainable luxury toy maker plaay? to create bespoke wooden tiger toys to raise funds for their charity partner Make-A-Wish International. With every toy bought, 100% of the profits will be donated to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses.

A strong sense of family, sustainability and corporate social responsibility has always been at the heart of Shangri-La, with hotels supporting conservation and community projects worldwide. The Lunar Tiger Toy continues this sense of community and is available exclusively at select Shangri-La hotels across the Middle East, Europe, India, and Canada to raise funds for Make-A-Wish International.

In partnership with plaay?, the tiger is handmade, created from sustainably sourced oak, hand painted with non-toxic paint, and a tail consisting of naturally sourced rustic twine and black beads for eyes. All the toys are CE certified to provide the highest quality and safety standards, making them ideal for mini VIPS.

“Family has always been at the heart of Shangri-La, and we are delighted to partner with plaay? to further support Make-A-Wish International and the life-changing work they do for families. By working together this festive season with our Lunar Tiger and looking ahead to the Lunar Year of the Rabbit, we hope to make children’s Shangri-La come true,” says Elena Mendez, Shangri-La’s VP Marketing (F&B) and Corporate Communications, MEIA.

“As a small family-run business, partnering with such a family-focused hotel group like Shangri-La, in support of other families, is truly special. We are so pleased to be part of this programme. We hope our Lunar Tiger Toy, which represents strength and bravery in Asian culture, can bring as much joy to children around the world as it did to us when creating it,” says Ben Sharman – Founder of plaay? Luxury Wooden Toys.

Shangri-La will continue to grant wishes to Wish Children and offer ‘Make-A-Wish Come True’ stays and gastronomic experiences. These will include Sunday Brunch at Shangri-La New Delhi, dedicated hampers at Shangri-La Bengaluru, a children’s dedicated afternoon tea at Shangri-La Toronto, and a specially created five-course menu at Shangri-La The Shard, London. With each booking, Shangri-La will donate a portion of the proceeds to Make-A-Wish International to further help grant wishes for every eligible child.

With specially created Lunar Tiger Toys, magical stays and culinary delights, Shangri-La guests can enjoy luxury with purpose, ensuring their travels help make life-changing differences for children.
