TEDxSoho Unveils Lineup for 17th June Event "All The World's A Stage"

Following its successful inaugural event in 2022, TEDxSoho has announced the lineup for its June event, “All The World’s A Stage”, which will take place at The Cambridge Theatre on the 17th of June 2024.

Guests scheduled to speak at this year’s event include comedians, political strategists, activists, journalists, stunt performers, futurists and innovators.

Among the guests, Lord Victor Adebowale, chair of the NHS Confederation, Chair of Social Enterprise UK and Non-Executive Director of the Co-Operative Group, will also be talking at TEDxSoho. Victor has recently stepped down as the CEO of Turning Point, a social enterprise providing health and social care interventions to approximately 100,000 people per year.

Victor also served as a Non-Executive Director on the board of NHS England. He has chaired a number of commission reports into policing, employment, mental health, housing, and fairness for The London Fairness Commission, the Metropolitan Police, and central and local government. He was awarded a CBE for services to the unemployed and homeless people and became a crossbench peer in 2001.

Fehinti Balogun

There will also be a section dedicated to the arts. As an actor, Fehinti Balogun has worked in theatre, film, and television. Fehinti is currently starring alongside Ewan McGregor in A Gentleman In Moscow. In addition to his acting career, he delivers hugely popular and informative talks on climate change aimed at a more rounded inclusion in the conversation.

He starred in the groundbreaking, self-penned filmed performance Can I Live? which combined visuals, hip-hop, and spoken word to chart his journey as a Black British man into environmental activism. Produced by renowned theatre company Complicité, the show went to The Barbican and toured nationwide.

Fehinti will be joined by comedian Isy Suttie, who, alongside twenty years of stand-up comedy, will also be known to audiences from her roles across Peep Show, Damned and Man Down.

Tiff Stevenson

Continuing the comedic theme, Tiff Stevenson, best known for her role in People Just Do Nothing, has also appeared on shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats, Drunk History, and Never Mind The Buzzcocks. She will also be familiar to podcast listeners in her capacity as a regular guest on Andy Zaltzman & John Oliver’s satirical podcast The Bugle.

Audiences will also be treated to a talk from former stuntman, broadcaster, documentarian, and disability ambassador David Holmes. Despite a hugely promising stunt career, at the age of 25, David was left paralysed.

Following his injury, David created the HBO documentary David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived in 2023, where he revealed to millions of viewers the nature of his accident and his disability.

Disability ambassador David Holmes

Touching, insightful and inspiring, the documentary reflected David himself, showing people that his legacy is not just his contributions to some of cinema’s finest stunt sequences but also his courage, resilience, and unwavering determination.

There will also be figures covering current affairs, news and politics. Audiences will be able to hear from the award-winning BBC News Presenter & Correspondent Rajini Vaidyanathan, who has worked 20 years in broadcasting, including 15 years as a foreign correspondent, covering breaking stories including the Israeli-Gaza War, the death of Alexei Navalny, Rohingya Camps in Bangladesh, the Paris Riots, as well as coverage of both US and UK politics.

The author Samuel Kasumu

Former Downing Street advisor, political strategist, and author Samuel Kasumu will also be speaking. Samuel served as a special advisor to former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, where he held the Civil Society and Communities Brief. He has extensive senior leadership and board experience and is the founder of Inclusive Boards, an executive headhunting firm specialising in non-executive board appointments across sectors.

Under former Prime Minister Theresa May, he was a member of the Race Disparity Audit Advisory. He recently authored ‘The Power of the Outsider: A Journey of Discovery’, where he explores themes of outsiderness throughout his career and how that can amount to high achievement and success.

Futurist Adah Parris

One of them will be tech futurist Adah Parris. A cultural innovator and polymath, Adah has worked with some of the largest brands in the world, challenging conventional thinking and inspiring individuals and organisations to embrace new ways of thinking and doing.

Another leading tech figure speaking at TEDxSoho is the Founder & CEO of Boon Global, Anjuli Bedi. Anjuli is an award-winning innovator in behavioural science, and AI approaches to drive a positive impact on society.

TEDxSoho will be celebrating the people and organisations who dare to dream AND have the strength, skill and resolve to take action, beat a new path and make ‘better’ a reality.

Representing the people, work, creativity and culture behind London’s most colourful and infamous district, home to the UK’s performance, media and creative industries, TEDxSoho will consist of a carefully curated program of short inspirational talks up to 15 minutes in length.

Set to bring to the stage innovators, leaders, mavericks, creatives and groundbreakers from Soho and beyond who have chosen to rewrite the rules, throw away the book and set their sights on a brighter future.

The evening will be divided into two sections, with an ample interval to allow for networking in the many breakout spaces and bars at the Cambridge Theatre.

This year’s event is curated by Sam Orams, long-time TEDx curator & producer, who, having helped grow TEDxBrighton, has now turned his attention to TEDxSoho, an event focused on the media, arts and entertainment world that calls Soho home.

Sam is a respected independent film and commercials producer/director with over 20 years of experience running production companies and producing film, photography and social media campaigns for cinemas, channels and global brands.
